Come here for the 5 star kalguksu. The mandu dumplings are average — a bit on the dry side so you need to enjoy it with sauce. However their broth for their noodle soup was so savory. I don’t know what combination of seafood they used to build that base but it was delicious. As well, their kimchi is delicious. The kimchi isn’t diluted and sour like the supermarket kind most restaurants serve. I think only Hanyang’s kimchi comes out slightly ahead, but nonetheless we had 2 refills!
Small but tasty menu. The soups are different variations of the same type of beef bone broth soup, so the only different soup was the spicy beef bone broth one. Otherwise it’s a clear beef broth base with knife cut noodles and gyoza or rice cakes.nnMy suggestion is if you’re sharing, get those jumbo gyoza on the side and order a plain kalguksu no gyoza. If you’re not sharing then I recommend getting the kalmanduguk - the beef bone broth soup with knife cut noodles and gyoza. The kimchi dumplings were good but I think I’d go for the plain meat ones next time. The kimchi inside the dumplings was a tad too sour for my taste. I really enjoyed the dipping sauce for the dumplings though some sort of soy/vinegar mixture.nnThe server for my group was so attentive and provided anticipatory service, offering me an apron to help protect my white sweater from staining! I was pleasantly surprised and grateful too.nnOverall, great taste, portion size and service!
this place is known for their giant gyozas. It is a must try dish when you go. if you like spicy then you will also like their kimchi. it is so hot but delicious. you can also buy some to take home. Also their noodles in soup is recommended. it really hits the spot if you want something homey and comforting. really nice when it is super cold outside. plenty of free parking in the front or back of the building.
Mandu was succulent, full of juice and with pleasantly translucent wrapping. Galguksu was outstanding, especially the beef bone broth, the pleasant clean flavour left a long-lasting impression on me. Bibim guksu was refreshing and adequately spicy at the same time. A very good experience overall, it was fairly busy around 1 pm, so there may be some wait. Ample parking on either side of the building.
I really enjoyed my experience here. The food was so good. The lady serving my table really took her time with us and was very pleasant.
