A Victorian period museum capturing the essence of pioneer life on the prairies.
Cash only.
A visit to the Virden Pioneer Home museum acquaints guests with the way of life of an established Victorian family in the Canadian west. The large brick-veneer home, which houses the majority of the Museum's collection, was built in 1888 on "Quality Hill", which represented one of the wealthiest districts in early Virden. Each room has been re-furbished to the charm of the era, with numerous period items and furniture--giving it a homey, almost lived in feeling.
In addition to the original house, there are several annexes, which house a post office, general store, and school house display, as well as other pioneer tools. World War I uniforms and artifacts, a medical display, and a folk-art gallery from a local artist are also tour highlights. As home to one of the most extensive museum collections in rural Manitoba, the Virden Pioneer Home Museum looks forward to your visit!
