Can be intimidating for those unfamiliar with Soto zen practice, but the kindness and support of teachers and fellow practitioners make the space a wonderful place to practice!
It's a place where we are supposedly going to connect with our divine self, but the space is held with fear, only accepting vaccinated people and still wearing masks? This is total terror to sickness and a complete lack of understanding of the inner being. Plus, continuing to create a reality of fear and sickess. Doesn't make sense at all.
What a fabulous place to practice meditation in a warm, welcoming and accessible environment. Monday evenings in particular are a good option for those seeking an informal introduction to Zen Buddhist practice. Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings are great opportunities to hear the guiding teachers, Michael and Kate, deliver lectures that are both solidly anchored in Buddhist teaching and relevant to our lives today. If you're considering a visit, let me be the gentle set of hands pushing you in the front door!
Fantastic and welcoming community, shared in their Sunday practice and thoroughly valued my time there.
Great Zen Center in Vancouver. Every Monday night at 7:30pm is ZenYu which is for Young Adults looking to practice / build dharmic community. Highly recommended!
