Motel Rive Du Lac

I was given room #6 and the room heater wasn't working properly. Waited for almost 2 hours for the room to warm up and it didn't. The room was a non smoking room but the entire room had strong cigarette smell. However, the owner agreed to change mine to other room. The other room had a nice view of a lake. But, the heater for that room wasn't strong either.... But better than the previous one. They need their heater fixed.

Clean and nice motel with friendly and understanding staff. The motel is located very near the highway and also was a very good choice for spending a night and crashing on bed in mid of overnight journey. All facilities were provided with very little to complain about. Only thing was that the room got little cold at night time during winter but again there were still extra clean blankets available.

The motel facilities are old-dated, need lots of upgrades to make rooms to be comfortable. The carpet smells muddy, and lots of stains on it. The WIFI is very slow, almost did not work for me, the parking lot is too small, my SUV had difficult to get out. I am not recommending this motel.

A must-stay for me when I pass by Montreal now. The location is great, right next to Highway 401/Autoroute 20 and only about 35 minutes away from Montreal, plus a lake (actually, it's St. Lawrence River but it just looks like a lake) just in the backyard of the motel. The place is generally pretty clean and decent, and the room rate is even cheaper than those by AirBnB in the City of Montreal. The only thing this time is that I had no running hot water and I discovered by myself the reason why: The hot water valve located below the vanity basin was turned off because the valve on the bathtub was not only leaky, it was free-flowing. No big deal, I didn't want to bother the friendly owner of this nice little motel and just used the valve below the sink to open or close the hot water valve. Also, as I reviewed last time, there is only a small window in the bathroom, no electric ventilation but that's also not a big deal for me. If you don't mind little things like this, this place has everything you need: clean beds, microwave, fridge, 32" LCD TV with English and French channels, air conditioning, hardwood floor, and clean towels. You may occasionally find a mosquito or two in the room but, hey, this is a motel by the water and we are not the only animal on this planet!
