Very quiet & well-maintained campground! We stayed at campsite #3. Very spacious and secluded. Be advised - no running water, flushing toilets, or showers. There is a hand pump for potable water. Also no firewood available for sale onsite. The trailhead for the Mount Moosalamoo hike is at the entrance to the campground, which is a pretty easy/moderate hike, good for a serene Sunday morning.
2022 update. Campsites have been paved over with bluestone Rock. Don't know what they were thinking when new tent pads was all that was necessary. Don't think there's going to be many happy campers. Everything else remains the same. Moosalamo Trail as predicted, has worn down to the tree roots due to allowing Mnt bikes, another go figure. Yes I saw a moose this last Spring, July 22 , update,!! car was broken into while campers were asleep nearby in there tent ! Unruly campers on weekends.
Haven't been since I was a kid about 25 years ago. Can't imagine it has gone down hill any. Was a nice little national forest campground back then.
top 10 favorite campgrounds in the us. campground hosts extra kind. clean bathrooms. great trails. beautiful trees.
Very nice, remote, and rustic campground. Easy access to hiking trails. The camping sites are well spaced. Most tent sites have a dirt/grass area away from gravel to set up. I was there in July and it was buggy. To be expected. Not much air circulation and it felt stagnant.
Spent two days at this Campground recently. Beautiful mature Forrest. Secluded and quiet. I stayed at space 10. The table gets most of the space. Walking around I found space 3 and 14 are my favorites if I ever return. Bring lots of lamps. It's supper dark at night.
I spent a few days here in June and have to say it was one of the nicest kept campground I've been to, stop and spoke to the campground host on the way in and he explained how payment and picking a site works. The site I was on 16 had two different spots for pitching a tent, one in the Blue stone mentioned already and one with dirt and grass, I choose the Blue stone and was glad I did. The second night I was there it rained all night, the stone offered great drainage. I was on motorcycle and found some awesome roads to ride near by. Will be back in the fall to do some hiking..
Nice quiet campground. Very remote, no phone signal or traffic noise. It is a 20 minute drive to the nearest store or gas station. A lot of gravel roads.
Very peaceful and well maintained campground. The campground host is a wonderfully kind and helpful human being. Would definitely stay again in the future.
So this was the first time that I’ve camped without electricity or water at the site. This campsite was great. There’s no service for like a few miles so make any last phone calls or text before you get to like route 32. It was clean, there was a good enough amount of space that we had. The camp host were great and very knowledge and helpful. This was the first time I went to a camp ground and there was a camp host and they really sent the bar for me. Lots of things to do near by. Trails, swimming holes fishing. I might come back so I can’t keep exploring around. Would highly recommend. PS. And we saw a moose!
