I have eaten at Modern Burger several times since the food hall has opened. The staff are friendly and attentive and made sure that my modifications were accommodated. The hotdog is hands down the best meat I have ever had in a hotdog and the truffle fries were delicious.
Yikes! What a disappointment and embarrassment. Ordered a regular burger with a lettuce wrap and opened the box to find an unappetizing patty sitting on top of soggy lettuce. It appeared the burger was missing sauce as well. Given 1 star because the fries were good and the guy working the till was friendly, but overall STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE! For $16, you're better off with a burger from a fast food chain - and you'll have some change to spare.
The lowest benchmark surpassed even by fast food chains. The District was not busy so was surprised how quick the food was ready. When we recieved the food, the wrapper of the burger and dog was cold to the touch. Further inspection showed that the bun was toasted, perhaps pre-toasted during prep work. The patty was dry and overly sauced. Half the onion rings were burnt black... May have been refried to warm up. The dog was standard with the same mushy bun, the fries were typical to their restaurant. Overall, a large restaurant operation in a fast food playing field. Lack of attention to details and quality control. A rotten note for this group of restaurants. Hope to see improvement but based off the other comment, doesn't seem likely. Would not recommend until significant revision.
An amazing experience! There burger selection is really good! After eating I was hungry after having a triple and at the end of it I asked if it is possible to add more patties to the burger it was sooo good! 10/10 highly recommended and will return again! Just so I have eat a 5 patties Wagyu with all the onions I can No picture was taken as~ I was too excited to eat~ but will update when the 5 pattie in my grasp UPDATE: UMAI!!!! 100/100 BEST BURGER EVER!!! I updated it for 5 Pattie’s~ $3 worth of fried onions and a fried egg *would have added more but there’s always next time!* Amazing staff and it’s worth every moment!!! I am satisfied with this care :3
This is the burger joint located in the new “The District” food hall. I expected much better food from the Modern name. Ordered the single waygu burger. We sat right at the counter so it was served immediately but somehow not even very warm. It was kind of soggy and sloppy. Wasn’t very flavourful and just dripping everywhere. Very thin burger patty.
Okay this was literally the best restaurant at the food hall. The wagyu beef hotdog with truffle fries was just so good. Definitely one of the better hotdog places in Calgary. Also we the prices were a lot more sensible than the other restaurants at district.
Amazing burger and poutine! I loved how juicy the burger was and the burger sauce had a hint of truffle oil which was a lovely surprise. The poutine had a good balance of gravy to cheese curds to fries. Excellent staff too; very knowledgable and friendly!
I dont know where you guys get the photos for your skip the dishes menu but you really need to change them. The menu shows a fresh looking crispy chicken burger but what I got was pulled out of the freezer from a bag. Ive never ordered before and definitely suggest no one else does. Super disappointed.
If you are vegan or vegetarian but love burgers, this is your place. Hats off to the guy at the front. Plus, its grilled not fried. Keep it up guys.
I've been here a couple times now. It's very mixed. The first time I had the Wagyu burger with the truffle fries. It was 5 stars, one of the best gourmet burgers I've had in the city and the fries were delicious and crispy. The second time I had the Angus burger with traditional fries. The burgers were cold, patties were different sizes, and lacked a strong maillard grilling colour which resulted in lack of favour. Fries were soggy and oily likely from cooking the potatoes in lower temperature frying oil. Not sure what to think, the concept of quality beef and ingredients are there but execution and consistency is missing. The second time it tasted passionless.
