I went here for doors open and I loved it. The museum is very educational and engaging. The man who was working was very welcoming and helpful. The gift shop is expensive but it is worth it since it is all beautifully hand crafted pieces. It is small but it has a great selection.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Love the old equipment. Very educational setup. I am so happy they have an elevator now. I was able to go see the displays upstairs in wheelchair, can't do stairs
A fantastic variety of fabric. The staff is very knowledgable and helpful. It is certainly worth the drive from Ottawa. I found material to cover my kitchen chairs and also bought material for aprons for my grandchildren.
Well worth a visit. An interesting view into our industrial past. Make sure to find out what the visiting exhibit in the down stairs gallery is. I'll be going again the next time I'm in Almont.
Small but interesting! They are renovating the main exhibition hall so a lot of the items are not available, but they can be looked at. Looms, spinners, carders, all the stuff that made up a textile mill are there. Bright and we'll laid out should be even more so when finished. Lots of super interesting art textiles on display on first floor. Good shop if pricey however many items are local not sure you'll find them elsewhere. Worth a visit if in town.
Fabulous presentation of Almonte's industrial history in a beautiful, historic setting.
Great exhibits and the permanent exhibit is very interesting if you want to learn about local history. Not a lot of parking spaces but street parking is conveniently close. Gift shop has handmade items from local crafters. Worth a visit!
We went to an art show 10 collectives that was so well done you would be hard pressed to find an equal in the city! The works were so diverse and interesting and the talent exceptional. Artists were on hand to discuss works or leave you alone to browse as long as you liked. A terrific way to spend an afternoon whatever your tastes.
A rich history from Canada's heritage in textile.
This is a wonderful museum illustrating the rich woolen mill history of the Almonte area. Inside is also a fabulous space dedicated to exhibiting artists of many kinds. Its a beautiful old building in a quiet corner of Almonte, one of Ontario's sweetest little towns.
