This was my first visit, and I was excited as soon as I saw the soul food sign. I was not greeted initially; however, I began a conversation with the aunt who was working behind the counter. This is a Black family owned business. I did not order initially because I wanted to check out the Salt City Center, which is really nice and eclectic. This time I was greeted by the male cashier as I approached the register, but he was dazed off laughing, while I decided on my order. Still staring into space, the male cashier tells me that I can swipe to pay, though the register clearly said "waiting for cashier". I had to read it to him, then he did his part for me to pay. The menu had Manu options, but all of the options were not available. I ordered fried haddock with two sides and was told that the only sides available were collard greens and baked macaroni and cheese. I would have chose those anyway, but this is not good for customers who may want the options listed on their menu. My food was hot and very good. My macaroni and cheese was awesome EXCEPT the chewy over baked parts, which happens when it's homemade. I also do not believe that my fish was haddock. For some reason, my instincts and taste buds believe that I was served whiting. The cashier also did not try to sell me a drink or anything else. I did not see any desserts, so I will assume that they don't sell those.

My first time to Salt City, the Gentleman who was working the counter, I believe his name was Cyrus was very friendly. Food was hot and very delicious, not sure why they had bad reviews. Bang Bang Shrimp was out of this world. I ordered dinner for later which was baked chicken, Mac and cheese and collard greens. The mac and cheese was on point, So creamy and good, the collard greens was off the chain. I definitely will be back. Took me back home, thank y'all

The food is superb! It’s amazing and super delicious! We ate at salt city market and knew she had to cater our event. Each dish she made was better than the next. Green beans, collard greens, yams, chicken, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, salmon - it was all so gooood! I’ve never had salmon in a cream sauce before. She’s an excellent cook and you really must give this restaurant a try. She even provided free bread. I’m so glad we found her shop.

I had the chicken wings Mac and cheese and collard greens. The chicken was fresh crispy and seasoned impeccably. The collard greens were the best collard greens I’ve ever had from a restraunt, I lived in the south for a decade. The Mac and cheese was excellent. A must if you come to Syracuse.

I wish their customer service was as decent as the food. I believe that I was in contact with the owner. If that is so the business is in big trouble. I have frequented this restaurant on more than a few occasions. In fact it has been the place I have eaten the most at Salt City. I wanted to order their Thanksgiving Giving dinner special. I ordered and paid for it and asked for a substitute for one of the sides. This was met with an unnecessary aggressive answer. For $256.41 I cannot substitute anything to suit my family needs. I explained that one of the dishes offered as a side my family did not eat. She suggested I get double of one we did like. We are a family of 3 so that would have been way to much food. Instead of compromising with me and asking questions I was immediately shut down. The Side a' la Carte was more expensive than the substitute that I was suggesting. It didn't make sense that she would rudely suggest giving me my money back instead of just adding the cheaper dessert? It made no sense. At that point my family and I felt uncomfortable eating the food because if this is your energy what would you do to my food. The trust has been broken. I will never eat there again. No one in business should ever treat a paying customer that way. She sent my refund and I am grateful for that. But there is too many places to eat and spend my money. The side was $40 the dessert was 35

I would first like to say that my food was delicious, and my service was great. However, the portion sides were misleading when it came to the "Katie Plate Oven Roasted Turkey Wings served with two signature "B" sides" I received half of a turkey wing the tip and the flat portion only Based on the description being wings I was expecting at least a whole Turkey wing or if you're going to give out the flat & tip only, it should be at least two. My other issue is that the person preparing my food, placed it into a microwave to heat it up.

It was our first time eating here and the food and staff were fabulous. We enjoyed our meal. We will be visiting here very soon

Their fried chicken and Mac and cheese are seriously impressive. I could eat it every single day. Just tried this place for the first time today and I'll definitely be back

Omg, stumbled upon this place. So yummy. Got the stellar plate and it was stellar. The Mac and cheese was the shining star of the evening.
