The station looks great visually and has four escalators two down and two up at both main entrances, but bus connections at this station can be annoying. If they actually re-integrated the pedestrian bridge into the station, so that passengers can use it to get to the bus loop/mall without crossing a busy road, I can justify giving a higher rating.
Located on the Expo line, Metrotown opened in 1985 and has been faithfully serving the Vancouver population ever since. There was a pretty good rebuild between 2015 and 2018 that improved capacity and the flow of passengers due to the shopping centers and multi-story living buildings that were added to the neighborhood. According to metrics, it is the second most busy terminal on the entire SkyTrain network.nnThe station is handicapped accessible with lift and escalators. There is also a pedestrian bridge across the road that leads to the bus terminal and shopping.nnIt is between Patterson towards Waterfront and Royal Oak towards King George or Production Way-University.
Neat and clean, the adjacent bus loop is just opposite of the road and all the bays are easily found, rapid bus like 222 available here. You can take bus to Stanley Park as well.nAnd the Metrotown shopping mall is highly recommended. There is a food court that has a halal restaurant as well.nToy r Us is big too in the mall. The Benz coffee shop is at the main entrance.
Extremely disappointed.nnThis used to be a busy place with a really well built architecture albeit old.nnFor some reason they took down the vital bridge- on boxing day too.nnNow the traffic is all chaotic without that overhead bridge and people are jaywalking all over the street.nnEven though the new station looks gorgeous and huge, it's not as convenient as before. There's not really a point in having two entrances as people mainly go through via bus loop. They might as well take the Patterson skytrain since it's only a 5 minute walk.
One of the more popular sky train stations. They recently renovated the station so it looks a lot nicer. Here are the big upgrades;n• Changed an entrancen• 4 new escalators n• A lot BIGGERn• New bus routesnnIt’s always crowded and they just removed the tube that connects to “Metropolis at Metrotown” 2nd Biggest mall in CanadanKind of sucks It was really convenient. It’s also where lots bus stops merge. One of the better stations in transit!nnHoped this helped
