It was absolutely an amazing and authentic Japanese ramen. When I saw the photos, I thought the noodle was instant noodle, but I was definitely wrong. The noodle was the most authentic ramen noodle I had in the greater Victoria, and the firmness was perfect. Also there soup base, such a creamy and rich pork soup but with the decorations of crispy onions and crispy garlic and a hint of sourness from other ingredients or spices, it was not heavy at all. And you can make it a combo with fried chicken and salad for only 3.5 bucks extra, such a good deal! I will definitely come back and try more.
Cute little place with delicious ramen. Good selection of options for style, taste, spiciness, broth, and all that other good stuff. Staff was really helpful with explaining your order so you got what you wanted depending on your preferences. That's a bonus for someone who doesn't eat ramen too much. Plenty of noodles too so don't order extra noodles unless you really want to eat a pound of noodles. NOODLES. Might want to book ahead because it's a small seating area and apparently very popular.
This place was amazing! Went here two times over my weekend stay here and the Spicy Shoyou with chicken broth was amazing both times. First time I ordered with tofu and the second time I ordered with pork. I liked the pork better than the tofu. Staff was lovely, service was quick and portions were huge. Highly recommend!
I cannot in words explain the pure, exquisite and amazing flavours I have just had the luxury to enjoy. I had ordered the “Menbow Black Ramen” with the delicious flavours of black garlic, BBQ pork, mushrooms and narutomaki. The broth is thick, rich, and earthy. The noodles were superb. The toppings perfectly cooked and seasoned. 10/10. I will be coming back. I will be referring people. Those people will be referring others. Menbow Ramen, you have yourselves a new regular. Amazingly well done.
Great selection of ramen soups: shiu shoyu miso spicy and more. Broth is tasty and above average. Noodles are fresh and great. Other ingredients are good quality. Good portion. Overall we enjoyed our experience.
Walked into Menbow Ramen Bar randomly for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and bright with a good layout making for a comfortable place to eat. The menu was simple and easy to order from. The ramen itself was delicious and just as good as anything we have in Vancouver. The broth was rich and flavorful, noodles had a great al dente chew to them, and the toppings were fresh and complimented and made the bowl whole. The ramen was nice and hot but my favorite part was the ice cold Asahi. Service was quick and staff were engaging and friendly; thank you Evelyn and co.!
Compared to Vancouver ramen, this place holds its own. I had tonkotsu black which had a very strong flavorful soup base. The noodle amount was generous and with added extra chashu I was more than full. There were a lot of other ingredients such as mushroom, bamboo shoots, and spinach. I also tried my partner's clear shoyu ramen which had a very clean fish like flavour which I liked better. Big pieces of chashu. Noodle is normal firmness and thickness. Meat is pork shoulder, not belly so it is lean. This place beats or matches some places in Vancouver at least for the flavours we selected
Casual ramen spot in downtown Victoria. Fast service was a plus. The ramen was great on a cold night. Initially the vegetable toppings were cold on top and that was a bit of a turn off… and the egg wasn’t quite poached correctly. A great ramen spot in town but nothing spoke to me as extraordinary… nonetheless, friendly staff and a filling portion.
Read reviews and thought I'd give this place a shot... I am rating this based on my personal experience eating ramen several times in Japan, Vancouver, Calgary and now Victoria! However, I wasn't able to finish this dish. The aroma had a very off smell... And the noodles were nothing special, tasted as if I opened a instant noodle pack..but what brought me to 2 stars was actually the bamboo chunks in the ramen tasted / smelt as if it had went bad.. i wouldn't label this authentic Japanese ramen as the website says
Food tastes good, it's just that the chasu meat was not hot enough to enjoy. Superb service from the crew.Food: 4/5
