One of my top 3 in London for fall foliage. Ample street parking. Water follows you through the trail and it is beautiful.
I love Medway Valley. It’s about an 8km hike if you go from one end to the other and back. You can hike from the Museum of Archeology all the way to Western University campus. The last kilometre or so of trail is on the university’s lands and is not as well maintained so it can become overgrown in the summer months. Beautiful views of the valley and surrounding neighborhoods. Parking: Limited street parking. Some parking at the Museum if they are closed for the day. Fees: No fees. Public Transportation: Easy access by bus.
Access the trailhead from the east end of Gainsborough Road which is just east of the intersection of Gainsborough and Wonderland Roads. The trail is approximately 11km in length and it is a mix of hard packed clay, gravel stone and short board walks over marshy areas. A few kilometres in there is a fairly long wooden staircase to climb a steep creek side embankment. The first leg of the trail follows along the southern bank of the Medway Creek and continues just south of the Elsie Perrin Estate towards Huron College. It takes some easy inclines and descents through mostly old growth deciduous forest and offers beautiful views where the creek flows past steep slopes. There are numerous coyote warnings so beware when venturing during dawn and sunset especially in mating season. Overall an easy hiking only trail with no biking permitted which makes it generally safer.
Absolutely beautiful trail to hike, easy to moderate.Recommended activitiesWalking, Hiking, Dog Walking, Birdwatching
Beautiful, Private, just a perfect little chunk of earth you don't wanna miss!! Fees: ABSOLUTELY FREE!! Dog-friendliness: dog friendly
Great way to connect with nature on these amazing trails. Nothing too high in difficulty so suitable for all age groups. Trails are currently a bit muddy in spots at this time of year but that's okay with us. So nice to walk some trails here in London and not see garbage on the ground every 5 feet.
Beautiful at times, but amazing at others, never would have imagined veiws as I got in londonRecommended activitiesWalking, Hiking, Running, Biking, Dog Walking
Beautiful spot to hike along a gorgeous little creek. Very scenic and the perfect area for us grown boys to play with our RC toys!
Nice area, lots of fall colors. Only downside is parking for maybe 3 vehicles. Otherswise, a perfect spot for a walk.
A great little easy trail set beside streams and rivers. A couple big hills but you could avoid those as there are so many trails to choose from.Recommended activitiesWalking
