Great place to enjoy a delicious BBQ. We tried the beef brisket and cherry ribs, both tender and tasty. The table had many sauces for dipping, all looked homemade. We also ordered the seasonal butternut squash side, which was perfectly baked and sweet. The house salad rounded out the meal. I was curious about the Meat Cesar drink. It's similar to a bloody mary with a slice of smoked sausage and pickle as the garnish. Very attentive service. Our water never dipped below the halfway mark.
I was looking up restaurants recommendations while visiting Edmonton, and MEAT consistently came up on various lists, so we were excited to go while in the area.nnThe restaurant is bright and spacious, and the service was excellent. We enjoyed everything we tried brisket, ribs, sausage, chicken and waffles, mac n cheese, and cornbread, but in my opinion, the standouts were the ribs and chicken and waffles. They also have a large selection of beer and drinks, and the house made peach iced tea was good too.nnOverall, a delicious meal and a fun setting to dine in, so we're glad we got to try it before leaving Edmonton!
I ordered the “meat platter”nnThe pictures speak for themselves. The brisket was dried out, fried chicken was slightly burnt on the corner, the ribs were dry and crusty and that god awful pulled pork was incredibly tough and dried out. The smoked chicken had an almost pasty kind of seasoning on it, disgusting. After spending $100 very disappointed. Their only saving grace was the corn bread which turned out ok.nn*EDITnnBased out of this business response,nSo you guys knowingly give out old food to takeout? And just throw up your hands and say just dine in for the “freshest” experience. I live 5 minutes by foot to your establishment there is no effing way that it dried out this much. I don’t know about being proud of your takeout program if you pump out burnt chicken and dried out meat thinking its okay. Shame!nnDon’t Order Here.
We came when it wasn’t very busy; around 2:30pm on a Friday. Menu is clean and simple which is great if you’re indecisive. Our service was pretty good, fairly quick, and efficient. Only thing is that it took a solid 5+ minutes after we sat down the get service. One quick thing I noticed: our server held the glass around the rim to refill it, which is where you drink from, so not very sanitary, but all good. There’s also a sanitary door handle in the bathroom which I find is really smart! For the food, the house fries are great and really well seasoned! The brisket sandwich I found lacked juiciness and sauce, to be frank it was quite dry and couldn’t taste the smokiness that much. You can use the four sauces on the table if you find you need more sauce; I liked the bourbon one. As for the pulled pork sandwich I found it to be better than the brisket one. It was much more moist, more toppings, better sauce, etc. We also asked our sandwiches to be cut in half so we could share and take one of each which they accommodated. Placed at 55$ for two plus tip I found it to be quite an average price for whyte ave. Apart from that, great experience, nice atmosphere, solid food and would definitely recommend this place.
My cousin suggested this place for dinner with the family while in town. Got the meat platter with fries and cornbread added on. And the brisket was amazing but the cornbread was mind blowing good. 100% recommend when stopping in. The beer was cold and delicious. Our waitress was on point and always right there when you need her. Definitely a cool place to stop and will be back.
