Watching a movie here is worth it. Smoking a cigar at the cigar bar here is worth it. That's all I would say is worth it. The food is okay, a bit expensive for the quality but okay. However, multiple times here throughout the years I have had to argue final receipt amounts. I believe you shouldn't go out to eat if you don't have the money to tip well at least 20%, so I always tip at least 20, even if a server isn't doing their best. But still, every so often over the years, I will see my card is charged with an extra at least 10 dollars for tip. The owners are aware. I have had to start taking photos of my receipts in order to be able to contest. So that's just my recommendation for others if you buy drinks there, make sure to get a receipt. If you want a strong drink, this isn't the place to go, but if you just want to enjoy some time with friends or family and not be too intoxicated, this is a nice spot. It's quirky and has a history. I've never stayed at the hotel section before, so I cannot speak on that.
Service was spotty in the pubs because of the holiday and low staffing, new staff. We expected waiting, but it was very slow, didn't get stuff we ordered, we were forgotten several times, etc. The food tasted good, drinks were fine. The atmosphere was fun. Room service was great though. Hotel staff were nice and helpful. Room was clean, cozy, beds comfortable. In-room coffee is good, and having robes was a nice thing. The soaking pool was fun. Clean, water temp good, not too crowded. Walking through the pub in your robe to get to the pool is necessary. You can just go to the nearby changing room and change there, but we were too lazy. Parking is a pain. Hotel guests should get assigned spots. Noteworthy details: Soaking pool.
My husband and I stayed for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary! The soaking pool was our favorite part of our stay! The temperature was perfect! Our room was cute and funky but the pillows were super flat and uncomfortable! It was fun being right in downtown so we were able to walk everywhere! We had great service at the restaurant and would recommend the hot apple cider with cinnamon whisky!
The variety of things on the property is impressive and has lots of different flavors of good vibe. Food was just okay, but the price was right. Service was fine but not amazing. Would recommend stopping by based on the wide variety of things to do. Also the drinks were great and quick.
Our room was in the Ed building which meant it was in the "Religious" themed building. When first walking into the room the decor was a bit overwhelming see the picture. The overall size of the room was a little small with not a lot of room to just sit, other than the bed. The porch, which was closed off, very small, and faced only the street, was also underwhelming. It was very tight to sit on and was pretty overgrown from the local landscaping. The bathroom was a nice size and very nicely done. Our room also was in the process of having it's HVAC replaced so the only source of heat was a small space heater. We were not informed of that when we booked the room or when we checked in. Our room got a bit cold in the middle of the night because we were not willing to run the electric space heater all night. Which I've always considered a safety issue. The rest of the hotel was rather interesting and we actually liked it very much. Two of the buildings had a hidden room on each floor that was fun to try to find. The soaking pool was very nice and the movie theater was a nice addition. The hotel's location was also nicely centrally located being a nice walk to a lot of external amenities. Rooms: Underwhelming, small, not very impressed. Nearby activities: Nice location.
My husband and I only had about 24 hours in Bend to celebrate our anniversary. We are a huge fan of other McMenamins and decided this would be the place to stay. It was our first time staying at a McMenamins overnight. From start to finish it was truly a dream come true trip. We originally had plans to have dinner downtown but quickly decided to just immerse ourselves in the truly McMenamins experience. We discovered all of the secret rooms and speakeasy bar. We stopped at all the different pubs, had an amazing dinner and sat out by the fire pits at night. In the morning we were delighted to find delicious coffee made for us and then to soak in the pool. Then we followed it up by an amazing breakfast where we both agreed it was the best Benedict we had ever had. I am not sure why there's such bad reviews around the food because we found it to be incredible. We ordered the elk expedition Burger with tots, Hawaiian plate, the salmon lox eggs benedict and the new Denver omelet, seasonal ciders and rum flight. Not sure what kind of magic spice one they put on their potatoes but I could eat those everyday. Next time I can't wait to see any different spot and see live music and a movie. It's a one-of-a-kind place that you can spend a few days at and never get bored. Thank you McMenamins and all the staff for being over the top amazing.
We ate and had drinks At the bar and the food/service is exceptional! The bread pudding brings us back everytime! Only Con is there is a server who works there and likes to whistle the whole time. Can be pretty distracting during a nice dinner.Service: 5/5
My mom and I stayed a night here while visiting Bend. She adores all of the unique features and fun games all of their locations provide. It is truly a unique place. Find the hidden gem of a soaking tub, it is a piece of art! Also, the broom closet… great drinks and a fun scavenger hunt to locate.
I did not stay here! This review is for the outstanding customer service I received on the grounds. I visited the McMenamins campus to enjoy the art and have a few drinks at one of their many spots. The customer service at the cigar lounge and at the hotel front desk I wandered to for information are top notch; kind and knowledgeable! Thank you!
The restaurant was nice. We sat outside with a toddler gave us a plastic glass with a top full of water and a straw! good kids menu and like all McMenamins the food was great! Get the truffle fries!!Service: 5/5
