I'd belonged to universities in the U.S., Netherlands and Spain, and definitively I can say McLaughlin Library is the best among all universities where I've been all around the world. Facilities in the library are so nice and all building is so clean and quiet. I saw staffs in library look around the whole building from time to time to check everything is okay. I felt so safe. Quiet study room is also so nice for people who need a private space. If you're a student at University of Guelph, you should be proud of the campus library as you have a privilege to study in the one of the best libraries in the world.
It has plenty of study space and very helpful staff .
I've indeed confirmed that this facility is indeed a library as advertised. nothin weird goin on here just a big library with many books.
It's a good study area with nice and helpful staff. Currently, only the first two floors are open and all seating is individual, so it is inadequate for group work. However, it hasn't been too busy so it's easy to find somewhere to sit. The alarm that goes off 15 minutes and 5 minutes before closing is very loud and terrifying, so be aware of that. Overall, a lot has changed due to the Covid policies but it still is a great place to study even without active in person classes.
I try to leave a very objective opinion.nThe library is beautiful, the infrastructure and the facilities are clean and accesible. HOWEVER, the library management is acting very unreasonably by doing maintenance and permitting handymen work during business hours.nI've tried to studied here for over a month and it is always the drill, the painting/polishing work or some maintenance work.nI understand this could be due to the summer time but the library should remain closed if that's the purpose. A noisy library does not make sense.nWould be ideal to have the maintenance over non-business hours so they do not interrupt the students.nPeople usually go to the library as it is the quietest area to study.nnLikewise, the library unexpectedly runs the fire alarm or something louder as an alarm for closing time. This conduct is very reckless and it could cause a heart attack to someone with heart diseases. I've jumped from my seat a few times.nStudents sometimes lose track of time while studying and it is nice to have an alarm to leave the premises BUT running the fire alarm is UNREASONABLE. They do it 2 times, one at 4:45pm and the other time 4:50. There are no warning as to the alarm and they do not have accesible library policies on the walls.nAs a visitor of this library I am very disappointed because the library is one of cleanest and biggest I've been.nnI hope this review help them to improve and offer a better services to the students and visitor of this beautiful university.
