Massage Heights Old Strathcona

So they open at 9, no doctor comes in until close to 10 am, waiting rooms gets full. Disgusting they open an hour before a doctor turns up. What a disgrace of a clinic and completely unethical business practices.

Massage Heights is good and bad. Nice staff, great bedding... Some therapists better than others. One disappointment is that not all staff are covered under Blue Cross. My massage was just cancelled with one hour to go prior to massage. The therapist I was supposed to see was sick. I planned my afternoon around it. They said they could only get me in with a therapist I can't claim. They wouldn't give it to me for free, or even half price. Not good service when they cancelled. I'm sure if I cancelled an hour before my massage I would have to pay. I would still recommend, but I think they could make service improvements.

In August I went once for a introductory massage at a discount. That massage was good and the therapist was very competent. I signed up for a monthly membership and then it went downhill. When I booked my next massage in September the previous therapist had quit and I was booked with another therapist. The massage was just okay but the therapist was very chatty. When I tried to book my October massage they had no openings until November due to "staff shortages". They suggested I drive across the city to another location. This is not convenient for me and they offered to have a manager follow up. When they called I informed them of the problem and said I would like to cancel the membership due to their inability to provide the services. I was informed I had signed a contract and they would only cancel with a Doctor's letter. I have contacted my credit card provider and am taking steps to block their payments on my credit card.

I signed up for a one year contract at this Massage Heights location. My appointment was cancelled on 6 occasions and I was asked to rebook. My most recent appointment December 2018 was cancelled 4 times in a row. When I complained, I was told that my appointment was not being cancelled, it was simply being rescheduled. Talk about adding insult to injury. I run my own business and I have had to cancel appointments with my own clients because of Massage Heights. There is absolutely no concern for your time. There is also a push to leave a tip for your therapist. There is a sign in the treatment rooms that you “appreciate your therapist” by leaving a tip. They even have donation envelopes for your convenience. The same request is made at the front desk before you leave. This embarrassing request is made in front of other patrons. I refuse to subsidize this company. They should pay their employees and not rely on tips from patrons. Although I have an outstanding paid for appointment, I have given up on them. I cannot afford anymore cancellations. I do not recommend this company. Stay away.

There are few things that are making leave this bad review. First, there turnover with staff should have been a sign for me. I would find a great massage therapist and then the next month they would be gone. I was then stuck wasting my monthly massage trying to find someone else. There are some bad ones there. I would find someone I really liked again and sure enough they would quite. The second and most important is trying to cancel. I called at the end of July to cancel. I knew I would still have to pay for Aug which I was fine with. When I cancelled I ask 3 times if I would be charged for Sept and the promised me no. Sure enough Sept comes and they took the money out of my account. I called 3 times to talk to a manager. When I finally talked to her she said I was on her list to call. I call BS. Also how many other people did they do this to if she has a list of people to call?? She told me the would mail a cheque that day. I have a lot going on in my life right now so I kind of forgot about the cheque until a few days ago. So I called left a message bc they never answer their phone. I was busy when she called back so she left a message. She said they needed my address which I got when she said they were going to send me a cheque. I called back and asked why they never called me for my address? She face me some lame excuse which made it worse. It’s been almost 4 weeks since they said they were going to send it and not one phone call. Horrible customer service. I will never go there again and I will make sure to tell everyone I know not to go there and especially don’t sign up.

I had a few nice massages with a good therapist, but a few of the admin staff are poorly trained and dishonest. I cancelled a contract when I had a baby, with remaining massages on file, and was told the remaining massages don't expire. Today, I called to book, only to be told the credits expired. Poor training? Dishonesty? Also had problems with extra charges on my account and had to argue with the manager to get the situation rectified. If you want to relax, spare yourself the stress of dealing with this business. Update: A kind manager from the Brewery location was able to reinstate credits. There are definitely people who do make an effort to provide good service, but it looks like the business model for MH creates a structure that generates many problems for customers. I would still not sign a contract with this company in the future.

Terrible place to work and the way they treat guests isn't impressive at all!! In a 60 minute session it is 50 minute session hands on and even after that guests were continuously shorted time. Guests are called continuously for no reason. You will be asked if you want to leave a tip every single time in front of other guests. Guests were called continuously so very often that it was offside! There were simple things the manager, Taylor should of done for guests but did not. It was like she did not want to go out of her way at all. There was a guest who was told she had four hours prepaid on file and so she booked a two hour appointment and whens she was asked to pay, Elyse responded with 'the girl who told you you had 4 hours prepaid on file no longer works here.' The manager, Taylor, is incompetent, she gives unclear instructions and no feedback. I received three massages from the therapists there, and only one of them was good. The one therapist was clearly better then the others, I felt absolutely no benefit from the others. I have never written a poor review about a company, this would be my first!

I got the massages deal at $60 per hour for three months. This is a lie you will be billed $74.99 per session for a full calendar year. When they year was up it became hassle to get my last four hours that I had already paid for. The staff were unhelpful and I had a horrible interaction with the manager who she will do nothing about the cancellation. Do not sign a contract here or leave your credit card on their file!

They were good a year ago when first joining. In the last month both myself and my daughter have had booked appointments, arrived only to be told "nothing in their system. Ok if it happened once but 3 times?" They did accommodate me with my last visit saying they could still get me in. I was given a therapist who was not covered under blue cross and the receptionist did not advise me. One week later I received a rejected claim on my health plan and this is how I found out.

My first experience with Massage H is top notch. I appreciate that in this case especially in this case was able to get in same day as my back flare up. What I was expecting was run of the mill service. Heck no. I had a 60 minute massage that released a lot of tightness in my upper back. My therapist knew where the pain was and treated it accordingly. Both sides were worked over deep tissue as per my request but not equally. The sides had different issues and that is how she worked it through. Definitely going on a regular basis like every 10 days for now.
