Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary

This Audubon sanctuary is setup superbly. It has an exceptional visitors center. It includes 4 salt water tanks full of local New England marine bay and ocean fish, various wildlife/local habitat displays and two in-house bird blinds (very cool). Moreover, the staff really knows "its stuff." Better still there many miles of well maintained trails that enable you to experience local forest and wildlife habitats - from fresh water to marine. You can walk out to the ocean too. Just make the tide is low! Also, bring some binoculars, a good camera, some water and bug spray (except in the off-season).

Great easy hiking trails and varied views (of water, of forest). Lots of great places to stop and investigate interesting plants and birds. We did not go through the nature center but would be interested in learning more there at some point. One of the trails' availability is tide dependent, which they will give you more information about when you check in to pay for admission. Well worth it.

Heaven on Earth! Great trails to explore for all ages. The marsh is a really special place with many species of bird, native plants, crabs, and small mammals. Staff and volunteers are friendly and always excited to tell you all about what's going on in the preserve. Nature center has a great seating area in front of bird feeders and lots of things for little ones to investigate. Not to be missed.

Great nature center with fun, informative displays, including tanks with live critters. Gorgeous trails along ponds, marshes and unspoiled coast. Fantastic walking and getting to know the Cape Cod environment! Also, programs, activities and camps.

A must see! Easy walking trails, great sighting seeing of the marsh and a wonderful visitors center. Great for small kids as well.
