If anybody says TNT is fresher and cheaper please listen to me. You will never eat an egg tart with a flakier pastry or more delicious center in your life. I drove an hour to this humble bakery and have no regrets other than that it took me so long to find it.

Got egg tarts and a pudding. The egg tart was excellent. Just the right amount of sweetness and super flaky. The milk pudding was soft, smooth, and creamy. The black tea layer of the pudding was very rich in tea flavour.

Although Canada is better known for Butter Tarts the cultural mix of Vancouver makes Egg Custard more common, and at Marui Bakery inside the London Drugs complex on Kingsway warm Dan Tat for $1 are absolutely flawless from the flaky buttered Pastry to their pale yellow Filling. Family owned for over a decade, the shop itself nothing to look at but everything made on-site and service friendly enough, it is alongside the semi-sweet Custard that Marui sells Buns and Cakes, the former each soft and fluffy inside their packaging with Coconut and Red Bean for $2.25 each both highlights.

I look at the reviews on google before. Many people told that egg tarts are delicious. Yes it is. And I like the cheesecake too.

Excellent Baker ! Buns & pastries are exceptional well. Specialties like pre order chestnut cake are hard to find in Vancouver. A bit of Japanese style. but be aware...CASH..only

Marui's mango cake when it's in season during the summer is absolutely amazing. The sponge cake part and whipped cream aren't overly sweet and there is a good amount of fresh mango slices. Each bite tastes very light and airy. If mango cake is not in season, their alternative mango mousse with lychee tapioca cake is also highly recommended. Not overly sweet and good balance of mousse, tapioca and sponge cake.

Location is convenient for people living around, however that’s the only advantage. TNT is better and more fresh. The macarons are ok, if all of them are sold filled with buttercream, because macarons must be aged for few days before eating. Costco and TNT have better deals and are fresher if you take the time to get there. The place looks run down and disorganized.

I love their mango cake. The cake is covered with fresh mango. The sponge cake is soft as heaven. Not overly sweet and not heavily covered with cream. The price is reasonable as well. I like their egg tarts as well. I think this is the one of the best bakeries in Vancouver. The reason why I took one star out is that they only take cash.

Awful customer service. No greeting and the owner won’t even look up from her screen to acknowledge you. Baked goods are priced higher than other bakeries. The popular items often are not put out until after lunch time and so limited that there’s nothing left after 2pm. Not impressed.

I literally live a 6 hours drive away and my entire family loves the egg tarts and will make trips here just for them! My dad used to live nearby about 20 years ago, and swears by this place since he found it. It's run by amazing people, and their food is incredible.
