"Homestyle diner restaurant and locals’ hangout housed in an old-fashioned mom-and-pop neighborhood corner store sure to transport you back to a simpler time. Our kitchen serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with a reasonably-priced menu full of your favorite American comfort foods like pancakes, waffles, omelettes, scrambles, burgers and sandwiches. Our bar has beer and cider on tap, with wine and cans available to enjoy on or off premises. In addition to a wide variety of beverages, our small grocery offers ice cream, snacks and breakfast burritos to go, plus essential sundries. Built in 1895, our historic location just one block off Lakeway Drive in the York neighborhood is convenient to downtown Bellingham and I-5 travelers."

Second time for breakfast here. The food hasn’t disappointed. Our first visit was during the middle of Covid, and we returned this past weekend for breakfast. To dine indoors, they are still asking for proof of vaccination and a mask. However, for outdoor dining neither is required. This place has amazing food and portions for the prices. I’ve had the classic breakfast both times, and it’s hit the spot. My partner has loved the eggs Benedict both times. The service was a little slow, but that’s the new normal. They had mentioned that the food would be 30’ish minutes before we were seated. We decided to stay and enjoy the morning sitting outside. There is a little store on the inside to get some snack, beer, sodas, etc. Street parking has been pretty easy to find both times.
Wow! We were super impressed with this joint tucked away in the letters streets of the York neighborhood. Fast! Fresh! And THE BEST soy mocha I've ever had which was served in a beer mug. We enjoyed veggie bennies with a side of veggies, toast and jelly and the most heavenly potatoes ever, all while basking in the sun in a warm spring morning gazing at the gorgeous apple blossoms and tulips. Thanks to Tristan and the super-friendly staff for making us feel like we were on the best vacation in our own backyard. Features: Masks required inside.
Love this place! Super quaint neighborhood market with 9 tables and counter service inside, plus quiet outdoor areas as well! Oh and the best chicken and waffles in the city! I’m so glad I came here after a huge disappointment at The Filling Station. Picture is burger dip with salad. Superb! And at the right $. Pleasant, friendly service, always.
Great food both the eggs benedict and the breakfast burrito were tasty, great coffee, and super friendly staff. Highly recommend.
Lovely neighborhood diner. Ordered the phở burger special and it was perhaps the best burger I've ever had. Maybe I was just hungry. Nelson's also has some of the best fries in town.
Cute comfy great atmosphere for a neighborhood store /restaurant! Pleasantly surprised!! The Classic breakfast was delicious and the raspberry jam to die for!! Lived in Bellingham for 38 years never been here before. My husband and I will make it our go to for breakfast when in town
We waited an hour for our food that we saw sit for 15 minutes getting cold before we were served and they forgot one of the orders from our party. It wasn’t even too busy and they seemed well staffed. We received no sort of “sorry for your wait” and when I tried to flag down the waitress for boxes after being there for an hour and 45 minutes she glared at me. The food was under seasoned, and did arrive cold. I rarely leave reviews on restaurants but felt this one was warranted. If there was a check in or apology for our clearly bad service I wouldn’t be so upset.
my sweet special friend really enjoyed the cafe. it was the first time i could get her to enjoy time out of the house in months the nice waiter ordered a veggie burger with fries for her and a mac and cheese for me. it was all delicious. we also had coffee and watched jeopardy it was an early saturday afternoon well spent
Great food. Absolutely horrifying service. Have tried three times now and been let down by the wait staff every time. They are untimely, lack communication, and couldn’t care less about providing poor service. It’s a shame we won’t be back.
Great little cafe in the York neighborhood. So glad I finally stopped in and the wait wasn't too long on a Sunday afternoon. Ordered a latte and it was huge! The meaty burrito was also massive and delicious. It was topped with salasa and filled with cheese, eggs, potatoes, ham, bacon and sausage. Also got the eggs benedict and that was nice as well. They certainly have generous portions here. Definitely recommend this place for breakfast.
