We are located in Kensington, Calgary. We hope you will find this a truly different and exciting dining experience. For thousands of years, Ethiopians make traditional Ethiopian bread called Injera. When eating an Ethiopian meal, Injera serves both as your platter and utensil. Break a small piece of Injera and place it on the Wat of your choice (Wat literally means stew), while simultaneously pinching your fingers to pick up the amount you desire.

Great flavors. We tried the lentil sambusa, ground beef dish and the carrots, potatoes and beetroots. All the dishes were spiced well, served fresh. Went in for early dinner, and were seated immediately. Though the appetizer was delivered very quickly the main dish took a lot longer to be served. That is the only reason I had take a star down maybe they were busy with take-out orders, don't know. Friendly staff and great ambience, will return for more flavors!
I think I might have found my favourite restaurant in Calgary! The servers were wonderful, attentive, and delighted to explain the menu and dishes to you! The food?? Incredible! I had the vegetarian combo plate for one, and every dish was absolutely delicious!! Such amazing attention paid to flavour and spices! Word to the smaller appetites: the plates are huge! Sharing is highly recommended, or taking some home for later! You simply must eat here!
Excellent food and very friendly service. Ambiance is casual, yet welcoming. I had the meat combo platter, and it was a really great sample of different flavours. Not too spicy. The portion is big enough for two people. Will definitely come back!
Tremendous flavour and great portions. Ordered via skip the dish and would do so again! Love the containers to keep the foods separate and make for nice left overs.
I ordered the House Specialty Combination platter chicken beef and lamb today. For $20, you can feed two people I think. You get so much food out of it and they are all so good! It comes with Injera sour flat bread pieces and other meat and vegetarian dishes. The sourness of bread blends well with other spiced meat dishes. The staff and owner were nice and helpful. If you visit there for the first time, try order food DIRECTLY without using Skip the Dishes app so the money goes directly to the restaurant! - I also have to say Thank YOU for being patient with me when I was struggling with debit payment and all the hassles. Won't happen again and thank you again for being patient and helped me through technical difficulties
Not as expected, beef dish, butter stir fry chunks of beef,very oily and lental dish, not what I expected, just pureed lentals and can't see any of the other ingredients they mentioned..the only thing good was their bread...
Had a delicious Vegan meal @marathonyyc If you haven’t tried Ethiopian cuisine yet, def give it a try! • We had the spinach and lentil Samosas and the Ethiopian platter which included: Yater Kik Alicha split peas Yatkilt Alicha cabbage and carrot, Yemisir Kik Wat spicy red lentils, and spinach and potatoes on an Injera flatbread - it was so filling and we both ate the dish with our hands!

As owner of A Laptop Shoppe, I thoroughly enjoyed this food experience, Marathon Ethiopian serves up mouthwatering and authentic Ethiopian cuisine. Feast on tasty dishes like ayib bawaze, doro wat, and lega tibs.with traditional injera bread.
Fabulous eating experience! This was my first time to eat Ethiopian food and I was excited to try this cuisine. The food was fantastic. Because we weren't familiar with the foods, we got the platter which included vegetables, beef and chicken, as well as the special bread. So wonderful, generous portions. We will order again!
