We are looking for a home foe our parents..When I came in there to get some info on your home...nThe lady behind the glass wasnt help full and seemed to be bothered by me asking about the home..nGave me a panfelet to look at..if this is the teatment at the desk.I can only image the care behind the closed doorsnThis is why you are a 3.2 star.NO THANKSnWe will keep looking for a great long term home with great care.
My name is David Martin, and I am currently a resident and President of the Resident Council at Maple Manor Long Term Care in Tillsonburg, Ontario. I also have 10 years experience as Director of Admissions in the state of Florida in a Sub-Acute and Long-Term Care Facility where my wife was Director of Care. We basically ran the facility and so I am able to recognize the good and bad in staffing behaviour.nnThe first thing I want to point out about our current overall rating, is that the mediocre rating is based on reviews that were rated during a past administration. The current administrator has been here 4 years, and the last negative review was before she was in office, and was reflective of the former administrator who apparently was not up to the standard you want when a loved one is placed in a LTC facility. The current administrator is extremely approachable and acts on any concerns rapidly. In my LTC working days, she would be rated the best, and I have worked with some of the finest.nnThe initial part of my rating is based on the core of a LTC home, the nursing department. The Director of Care and the Assistant Director of Care run a tight ship with continual educational meetings addressing any concerns rapidly and therefore avoiding any issues that could affect the residents. The RN’s, RPN’s, and PSW’s are great and quickly work to make the residents safe, comfortable, and healthy. This nursing department is the one I would want to be my caretakers in my declining years.nnThe next part of my review is based on the Dietary Department. The manager and head cook provide a 3-week rotating menu that has a delicious variety of food where you have a choice each meal of two different plates. I have yet to have a meal that I didn’t find something to my liking and for a “picky” eater, that’s remarkable. As proof, I gained 50 lbs in the first year I was here. The manager’s door is always open for special requests and responds quickly. The entire kitchen/dining staff respond to all with smiles on their faces. The final thing I’ll say about the department is that the head chef is a rare find. He is excellent and treats us to the best daily, and on special occasions, he’s turned loose and creates a meal that would be rated 5 stars in any upscale restaurant.nnThe final department I’ll comment on is programs activities. This department is headed by a very creative, thoughtful person. She creates a calendar each month with 7 days a week of non-stop live entertainment, games, and church services. The staff she has creates, with smiles on their faces and caring in their hearts, daily fun by participating with us in games that provide brain engaging fun. This is by far, the finest Programs department in Ontario.nnThe rest of the staff are all top tier. They respond by cleaning our building, washing our clothes, and keeping our building in good working order.nnI can’t say enough about Maple Manor LTC other than if you are reading this, you would do yourself and your loved one a disservice by not selecting this facility on the spot. No other LTC establishment comes close. Please schedule a visit to tour our facility to see what I’m saying first hand. You won’t be disappointed.nnDavid MartinnPresident of Resident CouncilnMaple Manor LTCnTillsonburg, Ontario
My parents, Maureen and Ray were at Maple Manor over the last 6 years. My Mum passed in 2018 and my Dad a few days ago from covid. Here are 2 examples of the compassionate care they received in this clean and lovely home. At every meal they placed a bone china teacup I had brought in, at Mum's place to help comfort her as she dealt with dementia. Caring staff also placed a colorful poster from Dad's granddaughter where he could see it in his final days. Our family is deeply grateful for each staff member who served my parents in their own way. We give our highest recommendation to Maple Manor and may all you who are considering this step for a family member, be blessed in your journey ahead.
They have a 2.4 average rating out of 5? People have been extremely generous. The actual care givers, cleaning and kitchen staff are wonderful. The new management, absolutely, horribly unprofessional. She should NOT be in the position she's in. She shouldn't have a job there at all. Honestly, the worst I've seen in years. Just terrible. Don't take your family there. She doesn't believe in caring for people. 100% wrong line of work. She'd be perfect for McDonald's. Not a position that involves taking care of people's health and lives. It's appalling.
My husband is there and he likes it. I like how the psw’s take care of him.
