I absolutely love the food here! Always consistent, enjoyable and delicious! It's such a pleasant experience every time! Everything on their menu is authentic, super fresh and full of flavour. Without a doubt, you will not be disappointed! From their sauces to their hand cut fries and homemade desserts, I love how everything is made from scratch and with such passion. All their dishes are creative and perfectly balanced. I like that they offer specials to keep things interesting. If you're lucky, the chef will come out to say hello. Here are some dishes I highly recommend: Small Tapas: - Grilled/Fried Calamari - Grilled Portebella - Karaage - Mai Hand Cut Fries - Shrimp Ceviche - Green Mango Salad - Grilled Thai Beef Salad Large Tapas - Grilled Argentina Steak - Grilled Lemongrass Pork - Grilled Fish Tacos You definitely don't want to leave without trying their dessert so be sure to save some room and thank me later! They have 2 options: Tres Leches and Japanese Cheesecake. Both are so velvety, satisfying and irresistibly good; also made in house. Can't go wrong with either or!
We were anticipating our visit to Mai Bistro for a while and we were not disappointed. Cozy atmosphere, nice decor and an unobstructed view of the wonderfully creative chef and kitchen. The tapas we tried were presented beautifully and tasted fantastic. We had the chipotle Tiger shrimp and the grilled steak tacos as a main course and they were delicious. We finished off the meal with a light and fluffy Japanese Cheesecake which was perfect. We will return.
Mai Bistro is a pleasant place to sit and share a meal with friends and family. The menu can be a little overwhelming to look at and read through if it's your first time there, especially if you are not familiar with this type of food. There are photos of some of their dishes on their Facebook page so head over there if you need a visual of what you're ordering before you order. We tried three dishes while we were there: Chicken Pad Thai, Fish Tacos and Crispy Seabass Fillet. The star of the day was the Chicken Pad Thai which was the dish my husband chose. Possibly the best pad Thai I have ever had. Super flavourful and more than enough to leave you comfortably full. The fish tacos were good, however, I felt that the portions of fish in them were quite small and that for the price of the dish that fries or a side of some kind should have been included. Luckily, hubby shared his Pad Thai. The seabass fillet and chips was decent - cooked well, but would have preferred the fillet be skinless and then breaded. Fries were good. The mango salsa and slaw were really good and really added to the dish. Overall, the service speed was adequate and the waitress was a sweetheart. Oh, not sure if there's a bathroom here or not, but hubby looked for one briefly and couldn't find it. If there is one, better signage would help wandering customers to locate the washroom in the future. Would definitely return to eat here again! Parking: Parking around back.
It has been a while since I went to Mai Bistro because of the pandemic but I remember how much I enjoyed their steak. My friend and I decided to have dinner at this restaurant. To start with, we had grilled portabello mushroom with goat cheese and sun dried tomatoes served with green salad with ginger dressing. For the main course we ordered Grilled Argentina style steak, chimichurri butter and hand cut fries.  I asked if it is possible to substitute fries with green salad  and my request was nicely accommodated. The steak was so flavourful, seasoned well, tender and cooked to perfection. The chimichurri added to the steak just made it more delightful to the palate. The hand fries was so good and not oily my friend finished them. The dressing of the green salad was so light and tasted so good. For dessert we had tres leches cake topped with whipped cream and pomegranate. It was soft, moist, not so sweet and so delicious. The staff, Rachel provided excellent customer service. The restaurant is clean, the fork and knife wrapped in fabric napkins which I seldom see in small restaurants. Mai Bistro serves food so tasteful that we will surely go back to this restaurant to try other menus. The Chef does an amazing job doing Asian food with Latin flavour, such excellent fusion cuisine. Update: We just keep going back to this place. This time they had the special of Salmon Ceviche which was a heavenly delight. The salmon was so fresh, salted and marinated in citrus juice and served over crispy fish cracker. I had it with Watermelon Margarita which made for a perfect pairing.
Yummy, fantastic food presentation and reasonably priced. We stayed with our restless toddler at the patio and they helped him settle down with complimentary rice and hugs! We had shrimp ceviche, grilled fish tacos, green mango salad, medium rare beef salad & tres leches cake. All for under $70.Food: 5/5
I came here with a group of coworkers about a couple of weeks ago and the food and service was great! The tofu steaks are super flavorful! I love regular tofu already, but this was actually meaty tasting because of the type of tofu that they use! My coworkers loved the seafood! Even the chips and salsa were delicious! They taste like the chips and salsa I'd get in a good Mexican restaurant on southern California. The servers were so nice and patient will all of us having trouble making up our minds! I'm looking forward to going back!
Amazing food. Great service. Quite place. We had grilled octopus, grilled portobello mushroom with goat cheese and dried prunes, shrimp tacos, tres leche cake. Everything was wonderful. Tacos could use a bit more flavour
Not sure my grandmother knows how to do this so I want to leave a review on her behalf. She goes here at least once a week, it’s her absolute favourite restaurant. I’ve been with her a few times and I 100% understand why. The people are so friendly and the food is great. I recommend looking up the specials ahead of time and reserving what you like because they often sell out.
This is our favorite restaurant in the area. We didn't make reservation but they found us a table. The flavour is devin in every dish we ordered. We could have gone another round. Compliment to the chef, everything was cooked to perfection. Our steak was juicy and tender. Grilled Lemongrass Pork with the Asian slaw had a nice balance which makes our mouth water. Highly recommend Mai Bistro. Kid-friendliness: Spring rolls, Tacos, Pad Thai. Parking: Parking at the back of the restaurant and plenty of street paking.
This place is beyond amazing. Perfect latin asian fusion cuisine. I can really feel the passion of the chef putting into his food. I was so surprised with the warm peaches in red wine served with mango ice cream. It’s definitely the best 5 star dessert that I’ve ever had. I still remember how good the juicy peaches were in my mouth. It would be such a pity if we decided to skip the dessert. Polite staffs and cozy atmosphere suitable for a romantic date night. Mai bistro is the hidden gem!
