A very nice neighborhood pub in downtown Ajax. The place feels more of a TV bar with a whole lot of them covering the entire walls. So should be a good joint to watch upcoming FIFA world Cup. Ambiance is on point with privacy screens at all the booths. Food is also great, including the tasty Nachos. The all day 22oz beer is another attraction. Have gone here twice and it is becoming a regular place now.
Our first visit at this pub located close to downtown Ajax. It's located in a strip mall beside McD's. When we entered the place was quite empty. Most diners were on the patio. We chose for the air conditioning indoors. It took some time for a server to come by and take our order. Another server who was handling the patio came by to check on us and took our order. My wife ordered pork souvlaki dinner and I ordered the daily special which was any pasta entree for $13.95. I ordered the seafood curry pasta which came with lobster, black tiger shrimps and scallops. Two slices of Garlic bread were served with the pasta. The bread was foccacia and could have been toasted more. It was a big soggy. The fettuccine was cooked al dente and had enough of the curry coconut cream sauce. There were quite a few pieces of lobster and scallops and 3 tiger shrimps. I thoroughly enjoyed my pasta and cleaned the plate. My wife's order was entered incorrectly as the other server miscommunicated our order and gave his chicken souvlaki. We didn't say anything as it wasn't a deal breaker or anything. The chicken was not souvlaki grilled skewers. It was basically marinated chicken breast chopped into pieces to make it seem like souvlaki chunks. Not an authentic greek dish but for a pub we shouldn't have such high expectations . The rice pilaf was bland and dry with some frozen carrots bits on top. The greek salad could have had more dressing, feta and red onions. My wife didn't enjoy her as much. We did end up finishing the meal. Overall, not the greatest first impression for us. Maybe it's an off day here. It's long weekend and staff were not motivated to work. Service was barely adequate. When we got the bill we paid cash and the server stayed by the table while we were giving the tip. Not proper etiquette. We still tipped well as we know servers depend on the tips to supplement their income. We probably won't come back due to wife's order was underwhelming.
It was my first time going here. It was a Saturday night but it wasn't crowded. We were seated right away. The food selections are endless. It's not just your typical pub food. There's lasagna, shepherd's pie, schnitzel and much more! I ordered the chicken pad thai abd it was just delicious! Cocktail selection is good too. Price is very reasonable. Our waitress was great too. I'm definitely going back!
My son and I eat here every Saturday after baseball practice. We come here because the menu is huge, the food is reasonably priced and delicious. Our regular server Nikki is friendly and attentive. We’ve never had a bad experience here and will continue to come every week. They always have great daily specials as well. 100% recommend.
Just discovered this place around 3 months ago and have visited at least 6 times since. The staff is consistently attentive, friendly with good energy. They have an incredibly selection on their menu so everyone in my family can find something to their liking. The price is also incredible for what you get. I always order the seafood pasta as it is incredibly tasty, with actual seafood in the pasta - lobster, scallops, big fat shrimp! And the price is so cheap! It's a casual, comfortable environment and will definitely be in our regular family eat-out roster! Highly recommend!
We came here with our toddler for dinner around 6:10pm on a Sunday. The host was very friendly and got my child a kids menu/coloring page. They mentioned that it was "a bit crazy tonight" and someone should be with us shortly. We ordered: 1. Half rack Ribs with fries 2. Jerk chicken with Greek salad and veggies 3. Kids hamburger meal with fries and lemonade Here is my assessment: Cons: 1. We waited 15 minutes to even be acknowledged. When someone finally came around to our section, they seemed surprised to see us and asked if anyone had seen us yet. 2. We waited 45 min for our food after that point 3. The ribs were dry and lacked sauce. I stupidly asked for some extra sauce which I never ended up getting. 4. The coleslaw that comes with the ribs was cabbage sitting in a soup of dressing. 6. The wait. For everything. Even water. Pros: 1. There are TVs everywhere which is great if you're going to watch sports games 2. Fries are great 3. Kids burger is an adult sized burger so great value 4. Greek salad was good 5. Jerk chicken was decent but not great to be expected 6. The servers were all very courteous, friendly and professional We would come back here with some conditions: 1. Childless! even though it's child friendly with coloring pages and crayons, the wait is just too long for a kid 2. Come with no rush or time constraints 3. Sit in a visible area as you'll be forgotten if you sit in the booths by the window To be clear, the workers were great in terms of their demeanor and politeness. My issue is with the neglect and the long wait times for anything needed; water refill, extra anything, the bill.
This is our go to Friday lunch bar. We found the bar by accident last summer as our other haunts either closed or were to mundane. Really impressed with the quality and quantity of the dishes served. Wife enjoys her fish and has never been disappointed. Our server Nikki always has a smile and a friendly chat for us and that goes for all the staff. Menu has a full range of dishes and we have never had a disappointing meal. Great atmosphere !!!!
I do enjoy a good Fish & Chips once in a while and this was a good one, with two pieces of fish, great fries, coleslaw, and tartar sauce. It was also the special at Mackenzie Pub in Ajax, every Friday - only $12.95. This was a reunion of sorts with friends from high school so having a drink with them was appropriate. A shot of Appleton Rum with Coke was my drink of choice. Service for our group was very good, not always the case at some places I've been to. No orders got mixed up, used plates and glassware were cleared efficiently. Good service, good food, very reasonable prices. What else could we wish for?
This place never disappoints! Love their food!
Great atmosphere, selection, staff , food and prices ! Definitely will be back for a third time !
