Was in the plaza yesterday and saw there was a Lucullus bakery. Have bought bakery from the Richmond Hill location and have enjoyed it so decided to buy a few items from this Markham location. We were there in the late afternoon about an hour before closing so understandably there was hardly any selection left. We ended up purchasing 2 items as the other choices didn’t look appetizing. The lady behind the counter was not friendly at all. She was sporting a scowl made us feel very unwelcome. We bought: Sesame bun- the sesame tasted good, and had a decent amount in the bun but the bun itself was hard and dry. I’ve bought bakery at the end of the day from other places and it did not taste hard and dry. BBQ pork bun: ok amount of pork, same thing with the bun. Hard and dry. There are so many Chinese bakery options in the GTA that is much better than is one. I will not be returning to this location for bakery again.
I heard about this bakery from my friend although he usually goes to the Richmond Hill location and assumed it’s a chain and the quality would be relatively the same and I happen to drive past the Markham location and I went around 530pm just before close. There was pretty much nothing left. No options really except one BBQ pork bun with onions and a black sesame sticky ball with walnuts. I got both and ended up really enjoying the taste of both of them. I’m giving this place a 3 star because of the lack of options available and the fact that the staff seemed like she wanted me out of there ASAP and wasn’t friendly at all. I’m curious to see the other options and the fresh baked goods available first thing in the morning when the shop opens.
Walked into this place a few times! Told myself to not come back every time… Nothing really wrong the place… 2 stars cuz it’s pricy and the service is so-so, and the selection of buns is also smaller less choice compared to other places… Milk tea is good
Just a few minutes away from, Fancy restaurant, you can find Lucullus bakery. Place looks pretty nice, but only four or five tables, which are usually filled. Bun and bakery selection, is quite poor compared to similar places. Also a menu of 5 or 6 items with rice, I have yet to try. Prices, are quite expensive, although the quality and filling is of better quality. Custard bun, and beef curry bun are excellent. Friend had the bbq pork bun which he remarked to being average, with little sauce. I think more variety and better usage of space could bump it to 4 stars.
Food 9/10 Atmosphere 10/10 Price $ Sevice 8/10 Very delicious buns and milk tea and more. Price is so low... But staff said some customers told them expensive..... Even cheaper than Chinese super market. Quality of buns and pastries are good. Not too sweet buns and drinks... I don't like too much sweet. That's the reason O lile this place. Roasting coffee every monday. Can buy Ethiopian coffee too. : I love it.
Got a bbq pork, black sesame, and pineapple red bean bun. The size of the buns are pretty big. The bbq pork bun and black sesame bun has a good amount of filling. The red bean could use a bit more filling. All tasted pretty good.
Egg tarts are really good, but the wife cake is so so. The crab meat bun is good too Please feel free to follow me on IG & YouTube: Mandilicous Tiktok & Fb: Missmandilicous for food & lifestyle posts in GTA
Didn’t even offer a bag but gave a bag to the person behind me that order a bao. Awesome service with some cut eyes from the lady who was busy eating. Sorry I guess interrupted your meal that’s why you were so upset?
2023July 10. Around 1:30--2pm My wife buy 2 drink. 12.1 My wife have paid. She asking say no paid. It's paid more 2.1 again.
Came here on a weekend afternoon while I was in town and bought quite an handful of buns and was pretty let down when I got home. First thing I noticed was the foil stuck and burnt to the bottom of most of the buns. I ate a few same day and the texture was far too hard and 'stale' for my liking. I'm really not sure what's going on with this location but I'd probably take T&T over this bakery. This is my first time at this location and I can say the location on HWY 7 is far more consistent. I've left some buns out for a few days and it was still soft in texture but never has hard as the buns I've had here.
