I took my wife out to dinner at Louie’s on a Friday at 5:45 pm. This place is right in the middle of the university campus. Their main business is take out, but they do have a couple of tables inside that you can use to eat there. We placed our order and were told that it would take about 20-25 minutes. We grabbed a table, one of three in the building and we were the only people there. While we were waiting for our food, there was a constant flow of people coming there to pick up orders. After a while, approximately 15 minutes, we were served our food. I ordered the chicken sandwich, and my wife ordered the catfish. Both of our meals were served in to go boxes. Both meals were served with French fries. Everything looked crispy and well cooked. The fries had a seasoning powder on them, and it was very tasty. I’m not sure what it was, but it was good. The first thing I noticed about my sandwich is that the piece of chicken was HUGE. This is not a small sandwich. The sandwich was very flavorful, very crispy, and well-seasoned. The bun they used was soft and was a perfect complement to the chicken. Everything about this sandwich was top notch, it could hold its own to any other on the market that I have tried. My wife’s fish was cooked perfectly, she received four large pieces of fish. She could only eat half before she was finished. Overall, this was a great meal, though it was not cheap, it was not expensive either. I will definitely be back.
I don't know how Valparaiso, Indiana got so lucky to be the host of a sister restaurant from Oklahoma, but I am so glad for it! Everything I've had here has been so delicious from chicken to shrimp to catfish. It's a briny flavor you can't find anywhere else in town and I crave it!
THIS PLACE IS A MUST EAT! If you can only visit one restaurant in Valpo, go to Louie's. The pictures show the wings and pizza puff, both Louie's Way meaning that the sauce is on the top. The service is very friendly. And of course the sauce is very delicious.
This is the ONLY real wings and fries fish establishment in Valparaiso and it is superb! My family ordered their perch, catfish, shrimp, chicken tenders, and wings. Everything was cooked to perfection! They actually season their food with flavorful herbs and spices not just dry cornmeal batter. It's fried to a tender crisp and not overdone like most places tend to do. The dine in area is clean and well spaced out to accommodate social distancing. The owner and staff are very friendly as well. I recommend calling ahead to place an order whether you plan on dining in or take out because there is a wait for the food to be prepared. But believe me when I say, it's worth it! They are in the process of hiring more cooks and servers so that should help. If you want the best fish and wings in town, head straight to Louie's and prepare to be amazed!
All I can say is wow!! Finally got around to trying this place… first of all the hot sauce is fantastic.. one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Secondly, the chicken is fried to perfection.. nice and thin, crispy, full of flavor and the portions are huge! Thank you for the great meal. Will be returning soon
I've been coming here for years, and the taste of the food is still excellent... however their service was abysmal this time. To start off, I placed a $70 order and was told 20 minutes, I wanted over half an hour for my food to come to me lukewarm, which wouldn't have been as much of an issue if I'd even gotten my whole order. I was missing an entire sauce and my large order of hushpuppies. I was only given a small order of hushpuppies and reluctantly was given my sauce. The server was also hard to hear as he was mumbling. I was disappointed by this visit and hope it is only a staffing issue with specific individuals and not the overtone of service nowadays.
Where do I start with this? The service and staff are the kindest people I’ve ever met, they make you feel like you’re best of friends. The food is on another level entirely. I’ve tried the tenders, wings, and the shrimp, and they have all been fantastic. The only downside is that other place’s shrimp will now seem inedible in comparison. Highly recommend
This place is amazing! In my opinion regions best friend chicken been eating here for years and never once has it been off or bad in anyway! Chicken wings are always huge and seasoned very well nice and crispy and juicy never dry and with the lemon pepper mixed with their sauce to good, deals such as the wedensay 3.99 chicken sandwich and fries deal is almost to good to be true lol it’s massive and delicious, .50 cent wing Tuesday is an amazing deal where can you find amazing big wings for that price these days ? You can here! Also love the shrimp and catfish! As long as this place is in business I will continue supporting them : oh and wait times are always short 10/10!!
A mostly disappointing experience after reading the good reviews online. Maybe it was just an off day for them. I know the food service industry can be rough. However, here is my review: 1. When we got there at around 11:30 a.m. almost all the tables were put up. No biggie We pushed a couple tables together. Just seemed kind of odd and uninviting. And they have a Michigan State Spartans flag displayed. Which is odd since I presume that a lot of their business come from Valparaiso students? Idk. Maybe not. 2. The didn’t have any blue cheese dressing despite it being on the menu. Ended up ordering the ranch. 3. The food was Luke warm even though we were the only patrons there. 4. They forgot our ranch and marinaras dressing. When we went up to ask for it, we had to show the receipt. Even though we’d just ordered it and WERE THE ONLY ONES THERE. 5. The catfish and chicken wings were…meh. Not much seasoning and certainly not served hot. 6. A couple positives: The fried shrimp were good and the hush puppies were VERY good. So there ya go. Maybe we just hit it on the wrong day? Otherwise, there is no way this is a 4.6/5 establishment. I really want to support this place because it’s a small local business. Maybe I’ll give it a second try to see if it can redeem itself.
The food here is absolutely delicious! Friendly service. Large portions. All around great place. Haven't had fish that good since I lived near the gulf of Mexico. Hush puppies were delicious and fresh. Sauces are awesome! Can't say enough good things.Food: 5/5
