A beautiful gem of a park! Always fun to see the pigeons and seagulls, and the views of the river from the platform of the dam is nice, especially at sunset. Easy access to the bike trail too, of course, as well as the hiking route network nearby.

You can watch the lock being operated! That's remarkable. The lock tender walks from one end to the other to control the two sets of gates allowing craft to change levels of the Hudson. The whole show takes about 15 minutes, so allow some time if you get there and a water craft is waiting. The road in from River Road is in bad condition as of late June 2017. Be aware of big potholes and be careful if towing.

It's a really cool experience to witness how canals work at the locks. Plus, a great place to just relax.
