Amazing food, served piping hot. Chicken Champagne was thin sliced and dressed in a beautiful creme sauce. Sea food fra diavlo was equally delicious with so much sea food we took half home. They had a limited menu for new year's and the prices varied from the regular menu. I think our waiter was John and he was busy taking good care of the dinner rush.
I was in town visiting and we tried this restaurant and had an amazing meal. From the fresh bread to the appetizers and main dish, everything was delicious. The portions are very, very generous! The waiter was helpful about answering some questions regarding a food allergy I have and I really appreciated this. I liked the atmosphere too. It feels like a true old school Italian restaurant where it's friendly, comfortable and a nice place to enjoy a meal with friends.
We always loved LoPortos. Went this evening and thought we'd try the hot antipasto even though it was very pricey $35. We were shocked when it arrived. It was something you would order at a bar. It was covered with fried frozen calamari rings. Very little seafood. Nothing fresh and they had the nerve to charge $7 for marinara to go with it. The cocktail sauce would have been free. We will never return.
Respectfully, It is not tasty, authentic Italian food. Italy has many, many different regions, and their cuisines different personalities, notes and hints. The food here was terrible. We were here on Valentine's Day and had Reservations for 8 pm. We got bad seating but they generally have an honor system for seating. If you are a generational patron, you get better seats. We got them by the stairs. The food was bad because it was old and poorly made. They made a pasta but it tasted like they used grocery store sauce-- which is fine but the obvious Ragu TM notes is insulting. I patronize Italian places and generally like the ethnic food but this was really gross. It was bad It's nothing personal but it tasted terrible. Their wine selection was OK. The waitress was not familiar with it and she was tired. The staff was really burned out and tired and although they didn't put care in their work It's completely understandable. I will look back at the menu to review exactly what I ordered. Take a trip to New York, stay at a hotel and fine dine Italian there because it's worth the money, unfortunately this place isn't it but that's not bad they cater to the natives there and the natives are used to it. I won't spend money here ever again.
I've been going here since I was little like 7 or so. I love this place it feels like family and in a way I grew up with everyone there There food is amazing and the ppl are so sweet and inviting. Greatest place to eat in Troy hands down.Food: 5/5
My family brought me there for my 70th Bday...Absolutely delicious...perfect Calamari a huge portion, excellent Antipasto large enough for 4 or more, authentic red sauce Italian meals...server was busy but very attentive...Loved it..Thanks!Food: 5/5
We love it here! Although the menu is smaller due to Covid-19, all dishes taste amazing as always. We introduced a new family member at the restaurant and he thought it was special. On the photo you'll see: a mixed seafood dish with sisillican style sauce which is so delicious, veal sorrento and another dish.
Great atmosphere ... Nice staff.. speedy service.. Nice place to take anyone. Accommodating for Single people. Great job people
One of the best Italian dishes I’ve had. They make their own mozzarella - so please order their fried mozzarella appetizer! The bread and butter is also delicious. The prices are too good and the portions are huge! I can’t wait to come back. Olive Garden who???? ;
DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE OUTSIDE! After a week of traveling and micro-brewery food, my wife wanted a good italian lasagna. She was not disappointed! It was handmade to order. She told me it was the best she ever had. I had "Shrimp Michael" and it was fabulous! The staff were friendly and helpful! BIG recommendation!
