First time trying out Lloydie's. They have a second location in the Mile End. The vibes are chill with r&b tunes and a nicely decorated interior. Cool that the bathroom doors double as speaker decor. - Jerk chicken plate $13.50 - jerk chicken had a nice underlying smoky flavour. Nothing else on the plate stood out. - Regular poutine $10.00 - massive portion. Wish there was a half size option. Poutine was well done and liked how it wasn't overly saucy. Decent Caribbean eats. 3.5 stars.
Lloydie's mile end location was recommended by a friend on my last trip to Montreal. After hitting up 6 different spots on a lunch crawl I didn't have anymore room to try anymore food. The following day we went on a doughnut run to Leche Desserts and realized there are two Lloydies locations in Montreal. Loved the speaker wall at the back of the restaurant and the tile on the way in. The g.f. ordered the jerk chicken and I went with the ox tail. We got an order of macaroni pie to share. The oxtail was tender and actually had a lot of oxtail in it. The plantains were delicious as was the coleslaw. The mac pie is the best I've had outside of the Caribbean. Overall huge portions, great value for the money and flavour to boot and of course redstripe to wash your meal down with.
what a lovely spot in the st henri area that deserves a visit! the food, staff, music, interior design were all amazing! we ordered the jerk chicken poutine they forgot to add it to our poutine so they gave it to us on the side later + mac and cheese pie were both delicious! the only downside was that i felt like the food could have been hotter
Generous portions for a good price. The oxtail is great because there is meat all around the bone that makes it look like a delicious meat flower, however the sauce they use for it is not that tasty compared to other places in montreal which is unfortunate. Also as shown in the photo they had to use 2 containers so the sauce wouldnt seep through maybe a more waste free approach could be considered for that dish. The jerk chicken had 2 nice meaty pieces so again quality meat and it was your typical jerk not too spicy so perfect if this is the first time you try carribean jerk sauce. Lloydies always delivers quality plates but if you enjoy spicy carribean food consider having side hot sauce
Everything about Lloydie's is such a gem! From the decor, bathrooms, and of course the food! I was actually there on location for a photoshoot and they catered lunch for us. I had the Jerk Chicken which came with rice, plantains and coleslaw on the side. The chicken was the most moist, flavourful, and savory jerk chicken I've ever had before. I wish I savoured it more cause honestly I ate it too quickly. The rice and plantains pair very well together, and the coleslaw had coconut shavings in it which I thought was such a nice touch of sweetness but doesn't overpower the rest of the meal. I wasn't able to try their patties but I'll definitely go for it next time. Would love to go back! Amazing food and great staff!
Had the oxtail plate. First time I had carribean oxtail and I didn't quite like the taste, however the meat was very tender. The chicken patty didn't taste much. The rice and the plantain were nice. The best was the Mac and cheese.
Came here today and had both the chicken and beet Pattie’s, for the price you can’t go wrong. It’s a quick snack for when you are on the go, I found the beef a little bit better then the chicken but they are both still good. The place was very clean and the staff was very nice, the only reason I took away a star is because as I was looking over the menu I was being stared at in silence. I feel the need to “hurry up and order”, non the less they were quick to get the food and wish me farewell. Will definitely come back to try this again, food smelled really good! 7/10
Ordered the oxtail plate. Overall not bad, but not as good as I remembered. There was something about the sauce of the oxtail that I didn’t like. It was also quite salty. The portion is fair for the price.
The chicken, coleslaw, plantains was delicious! Patties ate good! Not a fan of the rice though
2 pieces of french toasts see the photo cost 13$ before tax, I’m so disappointed, feel I’m cheated... Maybe the owner would argue something below my comment, but this is my true feeling. Avoid. Reply to the owner: On Sunday noon, when almost all the restos in this street are full of people, only your restaurant is very empty, you should think about your own problem, not find lots of excuses.
