If you have traveled through downtown Wautoma on Main St. over the past several months, you've more than likely noticed a construction project on the North side of the street between Thrivent Financial and The American Martial Arts Academy. The original structure formally known and “The Center” along with other properties that have been purchased are being renovated to house a nonprofit ministry coffee house/café and music venue.
The two main structures that are being renovated, previously housed a medical supply dealer and a print shop. Previous to this the print shop was originally constructed as the Wautoma State Bank and both buildings have extensive histories of different uses.
The open lots to the east of the two structures that were purchased this year will be used as a drive through, patio area, and court yard to give customers an opportunity to relax and enjoy some coffee or a meal prepared by the café staff.
Most recently the building behind these properties also known as The Livery for its original use as a horse stable, will now be an area used for meeting spaces. Because of the specific purposes of using the front building for a coffee house/café and music venue it was decided to purchase the back building to hold meetings which were originally being held in the facility previously known as “The Center”.
Our goal is to start bringing you regular updates on the progress of this project, to hopefully get you as excited as we are for the opening which is scheduled for the spring of 2015.
We hope you enjoy these updates and encourage you to recommend to your social media contacts to “like” our page as this project progresses. Over the next weeks we hope to present you with some options that we are considering for naming the coffee house/café, and would certainly appreciate your input. Thank you for reading and may God bless your NEW YEAR!
