We got a box of pastries including a pound cake, croissants, and a scone. We loved each of them and will be coming back when the weather is better and we’re not walking back with a soggy rain-laden box. Looking forward to trying some breakfast options as well.
So…. my partner went and picked up some breakfast sandwiches and coffee for us. He said this place was really cute inside and there was a big variety of really yummy looking pastries, so I’ll definitely be back for some pastries! The coffee was also really good. However, I was pretty disappointed with my bacon, egg and cheese croissant. I saw an image on google of this sandwich and it looked totally normal sized and exactly how you would picture a BEC croissant. However when I opened mine up, it was literally 1/2 the size of a normal croissant sandwich for $8-$9. I was so sad, it was really tasty but it was SO tiny. It was also super super greasy. In the photos, the image on the plate is the photo I saw on google, and then the other photo is the actual size of my sandwich- it looks like the croissant was sawed in half. Like I said, I’ll still come back for coffee and pastries, but the food is not worth the money.
Holy magnolia! I have been so disappointed by Portland croissants since I was ruined by Paris yes—I know how that sounds. But Little t American Baker has finally renewed my faith. The stretchy, creamy, buttery layers—. And with the complement of an absolutely perfect little dry cappuccino to go with? Wow. I got a kouign-amann, a pistachio bear paw, and a triple cheese grilled cheese. Every item blew my poor little mind. I’m not sure if any of them will survive the day Lovely staff. Helpful, friendly, knowledgeable. Next time I’ll have to buy a loaf of bread, too. The whole place is understated. Instant obsession.
I have wanted to try this bakery for some time and was a little disappointed. Little T has a nice choice of pastries, breads, cookies and muffins with a lunch menu. I selected a coconut scone, a cinnamon apple Danish, a chocolate chip cookie and a fruit and bran muffin. The Danish was a little overbaked, which made it a little crunchy. The bottom of the Danish started to flak off as I picked it up. The coconut scone was covered in icing, which made it sweet. The fruit and bran muffin was moist and had an interesting taste to it. Little T has a lunch menu with sandwichs, salads, and quiches. The bakery is well known for its baguettes and bread. Located on the the corner is SE Division and SE 26th in Portland. Parking is limited to the side streets. Currently offering takeout only. Little T is well known for it's breads, but the pastries were a little disappointing.
This cream cheese brioche is amazing. The best brioche I’ve ever had! And I haven’t even been to that many places.
I'll be honest here: the bread is great, the pastry not as much. Their baguettes and sourdoughs, even just by the look, are really good. Since I have too many sourdoughs these days, I opted for an herb slab, which turned out very delicious, and still smells good toasted even two days later. Another time I had a traditional baguette and it is indeed top quality. The pastry offerings, on the other hand, are...meh. The sizes are visibly smaller than what they usually are but not priced accordingly. And the Kouign Amann—I wouldn't call it a Kouign Amann, really, its completely flat top looks more like a Moon Cake.
I LOVE Little T's and have been a regular for the past couple years. These folks are super consistent with their baked goodies! My personal favs include blueberry corn scones, chocolate croissants, and ANYTHING involving the pretzel rolls. Coffee here can be a hit or miss depending on how busy the place is. This weekend I saw three folks working and maybe a dozen !! folks waiting or ordering. My latte tasted a bit bitter but strong, and it was prepped and ready for pick up within speedy time. Heads up, the staff really appreciate that customers wear masks when entering the bakery and stay socially distanced. Lots of X marks to help guide you and keep you safe!
No doubt, Little T makes the best baguette in town. The one that is delicious and crusty on day 1, and still edible on day 2! It became our go-to breakfast place, we probably tried most items on the menu. Very simple pastries and menu items, but they got everything right. The Continental baguette, butter and jam is a great way to try their delicious bread. "One croissant a day keeps the doctor away", right?
This is my 9th time arriving — in the morning — to buy a croissant and finding them out of stock. My persistence alone should tell you how good these things are. Portland bakers seem to derive a giddy pleasure from manufacturing “we sold out” scenarios. Y’all … that’s not how it works. You can’t bake 5 croissants and then feel proud when you sell out by 8am. You are a business and must learn to scale in order to meet consumer demand for your product. Simple. As consumers we do not find your failure to plan charming or endearing. And let’s not forget, the sales revenue you’re rejecting by purposefully understocking could be tremendously impactful. e.g. sell more product > make more money > pay your staff higher wages.
Little T is amazing. For what it's worth: I am from France and this is the closest a US-based bakery has come to traditional "boulangerie" standards, in my opinion.
