Lake County Sheriff's Department

After calling Lake County Police twice in a week regarding people in Doubletree West disregarding our subdivision safety in the mornings when our children are going to school, I was told by a dispatcher at Lake County Police department that the police cannot come out and patrol during the times of 7am-9am, because of other calls they need to address. I was also told to call in the morning before I leave my house so that a Lake County Police officer can come out and see what I see. After hearing a dispatcher tell me that I need to call every morming before I leave in order to get my calls answered I about lost it, so I said thank you, but no thank you. I 100% support the police department, as a matter of fact, there are police in my family, however if I cant call and make complaints about people breaking the law and something being done, then who can we call. Who is supposed to handle this situation. Winfield police doesnt take calls, and refers us to Lake County, and Lake county could care less. No wonder criminals come out to Winfield to rob salons, banks and restaurants. Definitely makes me rethink living in Winfield. Its quiet but at what cost, the safety of my children because citizens could care less about stop signs or speed limits where our children play. The lady I witnessed this morning in Doubletree West, blew a stop sign, on her phone and was trying to go around a school bus that was stopped with the stop sign out. I guess next time I will have to wave down the lady, tell her to stay where she is at, and call the police so they dont have to do any extra work and make sure our kids are safe. And while Lake County is at it, they need to hire and or retrain their dispatchers with common sense!

One of the most humane experience in a jail with great humankind correction officers. They deserver the out most respect. Thank you all and may God continue to bless you all and give you all the strength needed to do such a complicated task. -Velez

I'm on the toll road alot, I-90, and at least once a week a county car is doing 90mph or more. Mostly on weekends and with multiple people in car, should definitely quit giving them take home vehicles. Another accident waiting to happen, and who pays for it? We taxpayers do.

I had a lake county cop threaten me and intiminate me for no reason. I'm 35 years old and police are way too often abusing there power. they're trained to intimidate you to gain control of every situation instead of treating you with respect. what's​ america comming too ! I so want to Believe police want to do good and serve and protect us but it just isn't so 100 %. Sure there's​ good and bad people in everything but it worse when the people your paying to do right by you only want to intimidate and threaten you just because they have the authority too.
