This is one of my favourite hikes in the area...regardless of the time of year!! Winter can be challenging, but the rest of the year is wonderful! It can be a very busy trail, but well worth the jaunt. Many spectacular views and photo opportunities, but when the tea house is open...be sure to grab a sandwich and some soup. However, don't stop there... hike to the back of the lake to dip your feet in the cold, aline water or head up to the big beehive or devil's thumb to get an awesome view of the valley!!
Beautiful place. Lake Agnes was still mostly frozen in early June. Completely worth the hike. We had a tiny wait 8-10 min to get a table around 3pm in the afternoon. Was a wonderful experience, and a tea is the perfect companion to slowly enjoy while sitting and appreciating the amazing views. Energy date ball with peanut butter was really good too. Bring cash for food, more if you want merchandise. Offer to take a bag of trash down for them if you are able tie it to your backpack, it requires almost no effort.
Went in July 10. Hiking level of difficulty is medium/moderate. You will pass by Mirror Lake before reaching Lake Agnes Tea House. It feels rewarding to have a place to sit down & rest and have a snack & drink after about an hour & a half of hike with very beautiful background of Lake Agnes and waterfall. The sound of waterfall is very relaxing. I found it very surprising to have a cell phone signal. You have to hike a little bit up to go to washrooms. The path going up past the washrooms will lead you to Little Beehive. Hike for another 30 minutes & you’ll reach the top with even more spectacular views!
Wow. Just wow. First of all - the staff is absolutely lovely in every way possible. Second - Tea, soup and mountain bars are all delicious. Third - Thursday’s are for helicopter deliveries! Be sure to take Little Beehive after some tea because wow, more incredible views of Lake Louise. Very slick, don’t forget yours crampons.
Given my fitness level My daughter and myself almost never made it to the tea house, I'm so glad we did. We had a tuna sandwich which seems to be on house made bread and the vegetable soup was so flavor full and really balanced well with the sandwich. Also they have a great selection of tea. Can't say that I will be back but it was a lovely chance to rest and enjoy the magnificent views with yummy food.
I followed my daughters and started hiking without knowing of the destination! It started raining and snowing and the trail became slippery but we didn't give up. As we arrived at the Lake Agnes, we were awe-stricken with the magnificent views of the lake and the snow capped mountain looming over it! The lake was still partly frozen in late June. Such a bliss of the nature! Having a tea house here was a boon as we didn't bring our lunch. I think the lentil soup and the Cheese Sandwich were the best I ever had! Vegetarian options: Vegetarian soups and Cheese Sandwiches are available.
We hiked to both tea houses along Lake Louise and both were incredible for different reasons. The Lake Agnes Tea House feels a bit more accessible than it's counterpart Plain of 6 Glaciers... but that also comes with more crowds and lots more kids/families. The scenery of Lake Agnes is beautiful, especially the waterfall that is right next to the tea house. Amazing experience!
This place gets amazingly packed. Was here 830am on a 22 degree Fahrenheit September morning with a couple inches of snow and their was a line waiting for them to open up. I decided to keep going to my final destination, the big beehive first and hit it on the way back. Of course the line was longer. It was worth the wait, if not just for the experience. I had the blueberry green tea and it was fantastic and what I needed on such a cold morning. The views were fantastic. The staff has to carry everything up and down everyday so please do them a favor and carry your own garbage down the mountain.
Lovely place! The hike up took us a little over an hour but was definitely worth it. The teahouse staff are extremely friendly and the food was nice as well. They have snacks, sandwiches, soup, tea, hot chocolate, etc. Be prepared to wait in line for a bit. We waited around 25-30 minutes to get a seat inside. The interior was dimly lot and had a cozy vibe. Lake Agnes itself is beautiful and a good photo opportunity! There’s also a small waterfall right below the teahouse with a nice view.
A beautiful climb on a wooden stairs reveals the Lake Agnes Tea House not opened during the time of visit. It is situated on the Lake Louise - Mirror Lake hiking trail in Alberta, Canada, at an altitude of 2,135 m or 7,005 ft. Had the wonderful experience of two birds munching on my energy bars. Again, the sight and sounds during winter is amazing.
