La Tolteca certainly lived up to the positive word of mouth. The atmosphere was warm, and the staff was friendly and pleasant. Our party of eight arrived at 6:30 on a Friday night, and the restaurant was very crowded. Our server told us after we ordered that the kitchen staff was shorthanded, and the wait for our meals was going to be approximately an hour. However, we were given plenty of chips and salsa, which proved adequate. Perhaps it was the size of our party, because a couple who arrived afterwards received their meals promptly. The Enchiladas Supreme consisted of shredded beef, ground beef, chicken, and cheese enchiladas, and were very tasty. The order came with pico de Gallo, which I declined. The dishes can also be made to order. Another member of our party ordered two chicken enchiladas with a Blanco cheese sauce, refried beans, and pico de Gallo, while yet another just ordered a pork chimichanga with a Blanco cheese sauce. Perhaps the highlight of the meals was the Tacos de Carnitas. The pork was tender and flavored with a chime de arbol sauce, along with cilantro and onions. The tacos were simply amazing and highly recommended. If the wait seems daunting, then one may be inclined to arrive around 5-5:30 on a Friday or Saturday night, or perhaps 7:30 -8:00. Otherwise, bring patience and plenty of conversation.
I ate here a couple of times this week. Service was always excellent. The atmosphere is great and the staff were laughing and happy. Made for a very pleasant atmosphere. The chicken fajitas are better than the steak and chorizo. The enchiladas were good but the ground beef was better than the others. Enchiladas Ranking —> ground beef, shredded chicken, cheese, shredded beef. The chorizo queso fundido was good, but it was much better when mixed with the salsa! Delicious!
The only thing better than the food is the service. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The food is fresh and flavorful. The portions are generous with a good selection of texmex style items. They also have a very extensive selection of tequilas. The dining room is cozy and clean, but they do a great job of neatly packing up to go orders if you cannot stay.
La Tolteca has great food--best loaded nachos in the area that I've tried--and good service. It was incredibly noisy on a Saturday evening, but great for small parties of family or friends.Food: 5/5
Average vegetarian quesadilla. Store-brought tortillas filled with big chunks of tomatoes. Very pricey compared to their food quality. Thought they'd at least make their tortillas for the price they charge the customers. I've ordered takeout and dined in as well, only liked their Churros and Arroz rice.
The food was so good!! Great portions and my whole family loved each of our meals. I am also so appreciative that they were open until 10pm on Sunday. The chips and salsa are great too.
Their food is fantastic.. we were there during lunch. The frozen strawberry margaritas are phenomenal!! Definitely recommended!!
Great service. Food is always so tasty & delicious. The employees and wait staff are also so kind. The ambience outside is perfect for warm weather. I will definitely be returning.
I mean what more can you ask for than a live mariachi band. It was a very pleasant evening in the middle of the week. The outside patio area was very nice and the food was delicious. I would recommend to anyone to visit here
My lettuce was wilted. And food was cold. Pan was mildly warm and Worse fajitas ever, not cooked properly. I ate the rice and beans which was good and fresh. Pico salad and chip was not fresh, bitter taste. I will not return that is for sure. I paid and left the rest.
