La Parrilla is a small takeout restaurant that's big on flavours! The food is meticulously prepared to order fresh from the grill. What is the meaning of 'parrilla' you might ask? It's a traditional form of Argentinian barbecue on the open fire. I've tried Brazilian rodizio and Venezuelan arepas but that was near the extent of my Latin American foray so it was exciting to taste the cuisine at this hidden gem. The must-get menu item is their charcoal grilled chicken. It's sort of akin to Portuguese chicken but in comparison the meat here is more juicy and better seasoned. The half chicken is fall-off-the-bone tender with slightly smoky flavours, then even tossed in chimichurri sauce. Perhaps greasy yet each meaty bite is satisfying! Honourable mention also goes to their empanadas. A pretty sight: golden baked crust folds over the fresh beef filling, that might be even better by the dozen. And at their price point, I can see why guests generally agree La Parrilla is a 5-star visit. I ordered ahead and the food was ready for pickup upon arrival to avoid any wait. Owner Serge was friendly about offering an extra sauce on the side along with chimichurri tossed on the chicken. Definitely get that sauce, as it adds dimensions to the asado / grilled meat. It's not easy for family businesses to operate these days, so I applaud that La Parrilla charcoal churrasqueria continues to offer top notch food from this little plaza.
Ordered a whole chicken no sides and 4 empanadas. Bill came up to 35 dollars. Empanadas were mediocre and did not have a lot of meat in them. The grilled chicken was ok . Customer service was not the greatest. I had better experience food and service wise at Uptown BBQ down Langstaff Road.Food: 2/5

This local Portuguese restaurant makes awesome chicken and ribs! Try one for the dinner combos - we always order the half chicken and ribs, which comfortably feeds 6-8 people. The combos come with potatoes, rice, coleslaw and sauces. The empanadas are also very tasty! The service at pick up is great too. Menu says a quarter chicken dark meat with rice and 1 side is $10. I was charged $16.38. After speaking with them, I was told that the menu is old and the prices have increased. They also said that I was charged for extra sauce which I never asked for. They refused to refund me for the sauce I didn't order. Update response to owner: The meal comes with sauce and that's all I wanted. I never wanted or ordered extra sauce.
Best way to describe this place is flavorful. Owner was very nice and funny. He knew I was a tourist when I skipped the potatoes. He gave me a taste and... he was right. Everything was crunchy, flavourful and not heavy. Great balance of crunchy, savory and spicy. Service was also fantastic. Great spot, great people and good prices. 5stars well deserved. Thanks for making me feel like family for a night
This place is legit! It's some of the best chicken I've ever had. It's well seasoned, with just hints of the charcoal. The bonus is the owner is a chatty friendly dude who talks to you like you've know him for ages. I agree with him that the chicken is great by itself, the sauces are excellent, but you only want it for occasional dipping. The beef empanadas are really tasty, too. Pity they're on the small side so you'll need a few. Definitely worth the ride from Scarborough.
La Parrilla never disappoints me, from the food to the service. The owners of this family run business are amazing. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. Humble and quiet, they let there food do the talking, and their empanadas are to die for. The food, like the people that run the shop, is just amazing. Scratch made and everything is fresh. I have repeated many times, and will continue to do so.
This is the BEST CHARCOAL PORTUGUESE CHICKEN IN THE GTA. a small family owned business. Very friendly and clean. The chicken is cooked using charcoal which gives it an incredible taste. Their home made house sauce is probably the best I've ever had at a Portuguese chicken place. The portions are massive!!!!!!! The food taste is killer!! The picture I attached is a quarter chicken. Prices are fair and you will keep coming back for more!
It was ok, I don’t know if I was there on an off day. Owner is an amazing guy but I felt as if the chicken was not as fresh as I thought, rice was just ok and potatoes were good. The beef empanadas were good nothing complicated in them and tasted good overall.
