What a wonderful local Italian restaurant! Nestled intimately in the Dunbar neighbourhood, I passed this resto for years without ever trying it until tonight. And what a decision! Food was delicious, excellent, wonderful. I stuck to the evening specials — veal with seasonal veggies and homemade pasta, that the waiter said has been on the menu for 34 years incredible. It was excellent, flavourful, everything was delicious and wonderful. Throw in a few glasses of white wine and you’re totally good to go! Service impeccable and friendly, like a great neighbourhood restaurant should be! Will definitely be back for sure ! Excellent experience!
The piano was great and very lovely vibe.nService was abrupt, functional, and cold.nFood presentation and plating were excellent.nFlavors were a bit off. I love butter and garlic, but somehow, there was too much of those things. Veal was tender. Muscles had an odd smell.nWe had a large group of 4 kids and 5 adults, which triggered an 18% tip. I'm not sure if I would have even tipped 10%. The prices were good.

Situated at a quiet corner of Dunbar St. is a charming, family owned restaurant called La Notte that serves up some incredibly delicious Italian eats.nnFeatured here:nCarpaccionMusselsnEggplant ParmigiananLinguine Alla VongolenMarguerita PizzanTiramisunnMussels were plump, moist, tender, juicy, and flavorful. These were some of the best mussels I've had in a very long time.nnMarguerita Pizza was tasty but more cheese would have been preferred.nnEggplant Parmigiano far exceeded my expectations. To be honest, I was a bit skeptical about ordering this dish. The last time I ordered eggplant in an Italian restaurant, I found that the eggplant was not as soft as I had hoped it would be, and was very much lacking in flavor. Not the case with this eggplant dish. My husband tried my Eggplant Parmigiana and he was blown away by it as well.nnLinguine Alla Vongole and the Fettucine that came with my Eggplant Parmigiana had both been cooked al dente and were accompanied with very flavorful sauces.nnIt's been awhile since I've had a good Tiramisu, and this was definitely a good one!nnIn most respects the service was decent; however, we were a bit turned off by response our server gave when one person in our group inquired about the chocolate cake they were serving for dessert. He asked the server if she could describe the chocolate cake. Her response seemed to imply that it was a stupid question to ask. As though we should already know from the name of the dessert, that it's a cake and it's chocolatey. The question was asked though in the hopes of receiving information that might describe whether it was moist, or dense, or filled with chocolate ganache, or whether it had a crunchy wafer in the middle, or whether it was covered in chocolate buttercream frosting. Our server's response was quite a turn off. Cozy little place suitable for intimate dates or gatherings. The place can get a little noisy. Has live piano music too. The food is excellent and prices are reasonable. Also excellent customer service. We will be back.
