La Matraca

Stumbled by this restaurant while walking in the plateau. Turns out it’s amazing. Friendly vibe, amazing waiter. Torta was absolutely delicious, and I like the sizing of the food. Since you can eat like 5 tacos you can pick a variety of them. We saw others having horchata and ordered some as well, was phenomenal. I have only good things to say

We stopped here for a snack and everything was delicious. It is a casual simple Resto. The service was good and friendly. Don’t worry if you don’t speak Spanish. I only found out after I ate that they have English menus lol…but it didn’t matter it was all good!

I’ve never been a taco fan but this place made me love tacos. I tried their pasteur and it was amazing. The meats are tender and well marinated. Combined with their choices of spicy sauce and it makes it even more tasty. I’d recommand using the least spicy sauce because the most spicy one overshadows the taco’s taste. Out of curiosity I tried the Chaparritas drink and I really loved the soft taste of it. Once I also tried the sausage sandwich, and out of my surprise it was pretty good.

Tacos didn't taste as good as they looked, a bit on the dry side, definitely use the extra sauces. Small portions, i recommend more than one plate even if you're not feeling too hungry. Service felt a bit slow with less than half capacity.

Authentic Mexican food with great staff. I tried their taco as well as bean soup and it was delicious.

The best most authentic tacos in the city. We had salsa, Flautitas, Chuleta, and güera. It’s not easy to find authentic Mexican food in Montreal. This is the best I’ve had. Don’t expect to come in and have a huge American style taco, because it’s the real stuff. I highly recommend eating here. They are friendly, kind, and the atmosphere is casual and comfortable. I am in love and will be coming back as often as I can!!

A must go if you like authentic Mexican food.

Not bad, Not Great... Tacos are just OK, on the small side, so go for at least 5. Quesadilla was better small too. Soup is definitely a no go. Ambience is quite average. The staff is really friendly and will help you to practice your Spanish : Reasonable prices, cash only.

You definitely get what you pay for, don’t expect anything extraordinary. I found the food to be boring. Didn’t really taste like anything at all. Service was unenthusiastic. Based on these criteria, there are plenty of better taco places in the city.
