On a recent Saturday evening my dining companion and I wandered into Guadalupe's. The restaurant was somewhat busy and there was no one to greet us at the door. Our group and another four diners stood at the door for over 10 minutes before being seated. When someone from another group tried to seat him and his companion he was told to stop by a waitress, only to later be seated at the same table. The restaurant was oddly quiet seeing as it was somewhat full on a Saturday night. It had the atmosphere of a funeral. This was because few tables had been served any food and the others were hungry. Judging by the number of empty drink glasses which weren't cleared from their tables, these people had been there for close to an hour or more. It took another 10+ minutes for someone to bring us the menu after being seated. Another 15 minutes passed and no one came to take our order. As 35 minutes had elapsed and we'd likely waste away before the appetizers came, we decided to leave. This review is based on the service and atmosphere alone. Unless you have hours to kill or enjoy drinking margaritas in the gloomy atmosphere of a wake, avoid.
Enjoy the drinks but expect slow service. An authentic Mexican restaurant steps away from Frontenac subway station. Service is super slow. The appetizers arrived ninety minutes after we sat down. The appetizer soup was unbearably salty. On a favourable note, the margaritas and sangrias were tasty. The decor had a slight Mexican town feel. If you have a lot of patience and are looking for Mexican adventure and this may be an option for you.
I have to be honest! They are the most mexican restaurant! Dishes are big! Delicious and good price
Delicious food and margaritas. Fun ambiance. Family owned. Be warned that the wait time to be served is verrrrrrry long. But if you go with a group and just enjoy your chips and drinks while you wait, it's a fun time. Definitely a unique dining experience.
Really enjoyed the experience. The food was very good. It has a family business vibe that is always good to have. The place was relatively clean. Although the food took time to arrive, it was worth the wait. Everything came together and was hot.
Authentic and delicious!Food: 5/5
Underrated. Delicious and generous
A very nice and authentic Mexican restaurant. Staff is super friendly, decor genuine Mexican and food is terrific. A little pricey for the location but well worth it. Definitely try the enchiladas and quesadillas.
Food was delicious portions were very generous but the waiter was very rude to my girlfriend & also the service was very slow we dont plan on going backFood: 5/5
Very delicious and authentic Mexican homemade meals. Price was a little high though, especially for how long it takes to get the food and we arrived when it was empty. The Mole Poblano was absolutely amazing, lots of different spice profiles can be tasted and it really shows how much care they put in making their dishes. As mentioned before, the wait is long. It took 30+ minutes to actually be served our orders, but it was worth it. The house margarita was quite nice, though a little weak and maybe could've used a little more alcohol in it. Overall a great place for Mexican food if you're willing to wait for it.
