I've been searching for a bakery for patisseries and viennoiseries in the Scarborough area and stumbled upon La Bastille. It's a distance from where I reside in but I'm always down to make a trip for good baked goods. They are very easy to locate as they're located right on Birchmount and have a parking lot with lots of spots available early in the morning. They offer a great selection of sweet and savoury croissants, muffins, danishes, scones, muffins and many sweets and loafs! So far, I've tried their croissants almond, chocolate almond, butter croissant, kouign-amann, cruffin, scones blueberry, cranberry and cheese and their muffins peach and blueberry. My favourites is the almond croissant and the scones! I have yet to try their beignets, danishes, their savoury croissants and many of the sweets in their beautiful display case!
I abstained from having carbs for over a month to be able to feast on all the delicious baked goods on my birthday. It was a fantastic decision as everything on the menu was amazing. I had ordered a good selection of tasty treats for my special day and let me tell you I was not disappointed. Well done! Will definitely be returning.
Loved the ambience. The owner welcomed us with a pleasant smile. We got Danish blueberry $3.75 ,Pain de gene passion fruit vanilla tart $6.50 ,Cappuccino Caramello medium $4.20 Loved the Tart and the Danish and Cappacino were average. Will definitely visit once again to try more varieties.
So amazing to have a bakery this good in Scarborough! We visit quite regularly for the breads and croissants. I'd highly recommend both. Something about the fillings doesn't work perfectly for me. The chocolate and fruit fillings kind of miss for our household. They almost feel cheap or too light, but everyone I have gifted a chocolate donut still enjoyed them. I enjoy the sandwiches - mostly because of the beautiful bread. If they were a bit cheaper even if smaller I'd probably buy them 3 days a week. $12+ with no sauces or even mustard to liven them up keeps me from ordering as often as I probably could.
Very happy about finding a bakery nearby. It's my first time trying Kouign-amann because I always missed the opportunity when I went to Montreal. I was hoping to eat it later but I tried a small piece and ate the whole thing because of how good it was. I got the tiramisu as well as a birthday treat for myself. It was very satisfying and exactly what I needed. Can't wait to try their other treats. The staff are very nice and welcoming.
Went there for the first time this past Sunday. The food was amazing. Croissants so fresh. Quiche delicious. Love this place. Will take photos for next time.
We bought a lot of pastries from this newly opened bakery yesterday. The croissants were the best I’ve had in this city. I don’t have a sweet tooth but the vanilla filled beignets were delicious. They also have a cruffin for those of you who are into trying hybrid desserts. I could not recommend this place more. Will come back to try the stuff we had missed.
So lucky to have such a great bakery nearby! On my first visit, I bought a baguette, apricot danish, and vegan pain au chocolat for a lactose-intolerant family member. Everything is delicious, and we’ll definitely be back!
I was watching a documentary about longevity and somehow it missed to mention that THESE ECLAIRS are how humans can live longer. They not only spark joy, but they are just the perfect amount of sweetness that’s good for the heart and soul. Remember to share the goodness!
This place is dangerous and way too close 5 min drive to home. I've come by more than 3x times now since they opened in March and each time, ordering double the pastries to share with familly and friends. Faves include - kouign amann, cruffin, chocolate croissant, almond croissant, spinach and feta croissant - basically all the things! Thanks to Nam for always being such a delightful front of house person, so patient with all the customers and always with a smile on her face, and for accommodating a last minute large fruit tart for my SIL birthday! Can't wait to try their other menu items!
