This Newburgh spot has delicious Mexican breads and pastries (pan dulces) which are traditionally enjoyed as breakfast and supper snacks; La Amistad also has tacos and tortas and, on the weekend, tamales! The tacos al pastor we tried were delicious and the tortas we sampled stuffed with cheese, avocado, and meat equally good. Of course, the pan dulces were delicious the next day with our coffee! The storefront shop opens later than the bakery which is around back, and that opens at 7:00 a.m. Freshness and deliciousness are always welcome experiences, and you will find just that at La Amistad! The prices are great, too! Cheap, delicious and fresh? Doesn't get much better than that! And don't forget, for your loved one's cumpleano (birthday!) La Amistad makes a mean cake!

A wonderful Latino bakery with lots of delicious pastries. At first this place just looks like a little grocery - but walk all the way back and you'll find row upon row of freshly baked pastries. Regrettfully dont know that the name of what I buy is but pick out a few things to try, you wont be disappointed.

I honestly don't know about the bakery side here but it's also a deli and a little restaurant in the back. I discovered this purely from my mothers doing. In the back if you get here early in the morning on the weekends you may be able to experience their delicious tamales. They make a huge batch and sell them pretty inexpensively but they are absolutely delicious! Buy several and save the rest to eat later. You won't regret it!
