My family and I have dealt with Ted Manthorp and his firm for the last twenty-five or so years. We have always been impressed with the quality of service provided. Within the last five or so years I had occasion to deal with one of his partners, Miriam Vale-Peters. At that time I was very impressed with her straightforward, no nonsense but low key attitude. This past week, I had occasion to deal with her once again and I was once again impressed by the service provided. A very honest lawyer (taking after Ted's example), who provided the requested service in short order in a no hassle fashion. Direct, to the point, courteous and professional. She understood the nature of the request and made it happen within a day.

Miriam very generously offered her ear in listening to my legal issue. She was kind, supportive, and direct, giving me information and guidance that I needed. She didn't rush our consultation call and though could have encouraged me to retain her for services, proceeded with integrity, informing me an option that was more advantageous to me, not her bottom line. Miriam Vale Peters of KMH helped my husband and I through a family Estate dispute this year with utmost professionalism. She was able to resolve the disputes through mediation without going into litigation. Hired this law firm to take care of my condo sale and a full month after my closing date I received a surprise invoice that wasn't paid by them when the proceeds from the sale came through. This invoice negatively impacted my existing budget by $1,500 and all I got was a less than heartfelt apology. When I pressed the issue and informed them that they happily took their full fee of $950 + HST and didn't actually provide me with the full service they promised, I was mailed a cheque for $50 as compensation. Considering it amounts to exactly 4.6% of the actual fee paid, that amounts to a slap in the face. Avoid this firm at all costs if you want to actually have your real estate closing process done completely, competently and error free.
