WORST STATION EXPERIENCE EVER.nnI had a terrible experience trying to get to Union Station on the 2:48 PM train. After multiple delays, the only direct train to Union was cancelled, leaving over 100 people stranded outside in -30°C weather while waiting for a GO bus.nnTo make things worse, one GO bus was blocking others from entering the station for an unknown reason. When a bus finally arrived about 30 minutes later, it had to park across the street, forcing the same large group of people to cross the road unsafely in extreme cold.nnOnce we reached the bus, the driver only allowed about 10 people on before closing the doors because the bus was already almost full. Why would a bus that is 95% full be sent to pick up passengers after cancelling an entire train?nnMyself and nearly 90 other people were left standing outside in freezing temperatures with no bus in sight and no alternative way to get home. This was INCREDIBLY UNSAFE, poorly organized, and unacceptable. DO BETTER.nnPSA: we are all still waiting for a GO bus to appear.
Kitchener’s railway station leaves an extremely depressing impression. It is the station that forms most people’s first impression when they arrive in the city — and unfortunately, that impression is not in Kitchener’s favor.nnWhen you arrive, instead of seeing a modern, well-maintained transportation hub, you are faced with an outdated, uncomfortable space that clearly lacks attention and care. The surrounding area looks untidy, the infrastructure is weak, and the atmosphere feels more like a temporary stop than the gateway to a developing city.
This Go train station is almost in downtown kitchener, so it’s easily accessible for those living in downtown waterloo and kitchener as there is also a local bus stop and go bus stop as well in front of the station. The trains are also departing/ arriving almost on time.. so, reach 2-3 mins ahead of departure time, so you won’t miss the train. Billets/ presto card loaders are working in good condition most of the time. There is some waiting room which would be closed after certain hours.nnParking needs to be improved, especially in peak times it is very tough for those commuting everyday via train to park their cars due to insufficient parking space. Overall, it’s a better option to commute to toronto or other urban areas
Overall it does what it absolutely needs to, it just doesn't do it well.nnThey have a small building with not many chairs, 1 bathroom, and 1 customer service agent, but only from VIA Rail and none from GO Transit ever. The building is only open from 11:15-2:45 & 4:15-7:45 daily which is bad hours.nnLike there are a lot of trains/busses before 11 and there's no one to help with any of them? The building isn't even open so you can just use the bathroom? There's like barely any seating outside and you can't wait inside if they're all full or the weather is bad?nnTheir parking lot and sidewalk is also poorly designed and makes no sense. There are inconvenient barriers everywhere. You have to know the layout well because it's so badly made. The bus stops to get to it are also in bad locations. It's not very friendly to pedestrians or people who need public transit.nnThis train station is very disappointing and really bad, make sure you plan your trip so that you never need to wait there or even to just go to the bathroom cause they are so useless. They almost shouldn't have a building there cause it's just a lie that you think you have things you need but in reality you almost never do.
