Came here for dinner and this place was pretty busy! Side note: their chairs have no backs - like many Japanese restaurants so don’t wear big jackets that you can stuff on top of your lap and from what I could see there were no coat racks Menu is pretty simple but still had a lot of variety. Dishes were very tasteful and they gave good portions. I would normally give this 4 stars just because it is a bit pricey for my liking but this is also downtown, but the extra star is for the chef who also happened to be our sake bomb expert. You can tell he really enjoys his job and gets into it. DON’T order the matcha cheesecake. It was the only thing I didn’t like. Tasted like a normal cheesecake. Didn’t get any matcha flavouring at all.
Perfectly portioned entrees, meaning, if you are very hungry, you may want to order an extra appetizer. I had the Curry and liked it. The place was loud and joyful. Great place for a first date or a group of friends. The staff was nice.Food: 4/5
I will give 5 stars for the experience. Sake bombs were so much fun! Food was good, some were spectacular but some were mediocre. Tried their winter menu, scallops from japan were the best scallops I have ever had. The stone bowl eel bibimbap was great. The beef short ribs were a little salty and the duck udon was just okay. Would recommend!
Went here on a Friday evening before Raptors game. Please make reservations if you go at this time, coz this place is busy. We did not expect it and thus git bar seats, which is alright. They have a fun vibe. The problem was the service and the food. The staff was polite but inattentive. Having to ask for water 2-3 times puts a damper on the experience. The food was alright. We ordered a bunch of tapas. Fried brie with blueberry & mango sauce - the sauces were really good; Fried tofu - soggy and chewy crust; fried chicken was alright. It was not the best experience overall for $20/head and may not recommend the place unless you have no other option. Vegetarian options: Tofu dishes.
great service. The food comes out relatively quick. You’re meant to share everything that’s ordered as it comes in small portions. Everything tried was good. The calamari was just okay to me
Good sushi and fresh ingredients. Service nice and efficient. The only spot is the menu a little bit too simple. Not much of choice to be honest. The few options you can choose are good.
The food, location and service was great. We were an hour late for our reservation due to traffic but we still got a table when we arrived. Would go back here again to try some other stuff in the menu.
First up, this place isn't super veggie friendly. There are about five dishes that are veggie. And I ordered all of those. ‍ The cheesy bibimbap was great, slightly on the sweeter side. I asked for Sriracha, mixed that in an made it spicy and tangy. The crispy veg gyōzas were great! Really delicious. The eggplant agedashi was a let down. The eggplant should have been cut into smaller pieces as it would have soaked up the sauce better, and been a better accompaniment. The huge pieces, despite the marination lacked depth. For dessert, we had the matcha cheesecake, and it was bloody gorgeous. overall, the food experience was great. The place is usually a bit loud, but it added to the whole casual bar feeling. One thing that annoyed me was the depth of the seat. It's too small
3/5 Izakayas generally have smaller portions so keep that in mind. Got the Beef Curry Cheese Bibimbap, that was delicious and the Octopus carpacio which tasted very good as well. Their Calpico mixed drink was sweet and tasty. The Oyster topped with cheese was just alright and expensive for the price but a good portion. My friends got the different dried Udons, Katsudon Curry and other versions of curry. Tbh most of what they ate could be easily made at home with the right ingredients from Chinatown or an Asian grocery store. I wouldnt pay the price for most of the other mains other than the hot stone Bibimbaps and ofc the seared Sushis for the mains. Service was friendly and we celebrated someone's birthday so got the 7 Sisters shot option which came with 7 shots with different flavours. Had to ask for clarification which shot was which flavour when they were handed out which wasn't the best in organization. Overall probably wouldn't visit again tbh. Highlight was Beef Curry Cheese Bibimbap and Octopus Carpacio.
Absolutely fantastic! Fresh, authentic Japanese food! We came 19 mins before kitchen closed, and we said it's ok. They insisted on us dining with them! We ordered so many things, food started coming out right away, and didn't stop. We also ordered sake and Sapporo beer. Some food off the Al'a carte menu, some from special menu. Staff were all kind and working hard, friendly as can be, even tho we were the last table there. Much appreciated everyone!
