Sent my 10k gold chain to be fixed on 4 links. the first time they only fixed 1 and it cost $60. Took it back for the others nd they charged $140. Picked the chain up today and the workmanship was horrible. They still missed a link that needed repairing. The material they use to solder really stands out from the gold, it looks silver. I DO NOT RECOMMEND getting repairs done here.
The gentleman, owner of the shop, is amazing and very quick with his work. My fiancé was on his way to Ottawa to see me, he stopped by the shop to fixed my necklace with him and the gentleman fixed it within 20 minutes while other jewelry shops told him 3-5 days to fix! And he got me a bracelet too made by the owner. - thank you!
I brought my engagement ring in after two stones had come out. Kingston jewellery repair fixed it in a matter of hours and even gave it a quick polish. They are so well priced and fast! Definitely would recommend!
I don't usually like to write negative reviews for small businesses but in this case, I do have something to say. I've only been here once and I will never go there again. I brought 2 pairs of Chanel earrings for a simple repair job. I just needed to have 3 missing stones glued back in place. I was told the total cost would be $20. The price was comparable to other repair shops in town. I made the effort to call around before deciding to go with this place. When I went to pick them up, I was mortified. Two stones on the smaller pair did not appear to be fitting properly. They looked like they were jammed in place then sealed off with a thick layer of clear material so they don't fall out. The stone on the larger earring was the appropriate size but again, they sealed it off with that clear material, leaving the earring to appear thick in that one area. Even though it's intended to be transparent, the clear seal was noticeable in certain lighting and angles. The whole thing just looked like a mess and made my genuine Chanel earrings look cheap and fake. I expressed my concern immediately and requested politely for them to redo it. The lady did not want to fix it and said the repair was done to their best ability and the seal was necessary to prevent the stones from falling out. What was not considered was the value depreciation this "seal" has brought on my earrings by altering the appearance of them. My intention was to have the earrings fixed then sold to a consignment store. I took them to another repair shop the following week and the goldsmith cringed when he saw my earrings. He confirmed the stones were not the right size and were not glued properly. They are currently being re-repaired. So no I do not recommend this place. On a side note, it's cash only and they charge "sales tax".
I've only been to Kingston jewellery a couple of times but Find them extremely reasonable for sizing of rings and great payout on them buying old unwanted broken jewelry. Husband and wife are extremely friendly. Excellent customer service as far as concerned.
My partner had a set of gold stud ear rings. They had a little blue stone in the middle held in place by four small gold claws. One of the claws came off and got lost Luckily she found the stone. They weren't super expensive ear rings, but were of sentimental value. So we decided to get them replaired. I had read the reviews of several jewelry repair shops in Kingston, and went to one of the higher-end stores on Princess Street. They told me that they'd have to make a gold claw, attach it, and reset the stone. They estimated $150 for the repair, but emphasized 'estimate' suggesting it could well be more. I took the broken ear ring to Kingston Jewellery Repair and the nice lady quoted me $50, almost apologetically, telling me that her husband would have to make 4 new claws out of gold, attach them, and reset the stone. So I left it with them and three or four days later picked up the ear ring. I was delighted with the job. The broken ear ring with its new claws was identical to the other ear ring. My partner was so delighted with the repa, and moreso to be able to wear the set again. I would highly recommend Kingston Jewellery Repair to anyone needing similar work done.
Took my mother in law to be ring in for repair. Service was excellent. Very fast and a 50 plus year old ring came back looking like new. My now fiance loved how it turned out. Would highly recommend and will be returning with any future work. Thank you so much.
Amazing service, great work, and super fast. Brought an engagement ring in to be fitted and asked that he got it back to me in a week- he had it back to me the next day.
