The atmosphere and history of this place is incredible. We had brunch there on Sunday and the place was pretty full with two musicians that had the crowd laughing and clapping along. My wife went for the French toast which was a huge portion and really good while I opted for the King Eddy burger which was also really tasty. It was really cool to see how Studio Bell - The National Music Centre rebuilt the King Eddy and incorporated it along with the buildings history into a modern landmark of Calgary. Being able to see the Rolling Stone mobile recording studio and take in all exhibits next door made the visit worth while.
Fun atmosphere, amazing food, and great live music! We booked a table for 2 for dinner after visiting the stampede grounds. We saw the restaurant as we passed by on our way to the grounds and it looked like a fun place to grab a bite to eat. I’m so glad we decided to give it a try. The band was awesome and the service was great. We ordered 2 drinks and a meal to share. We tried their new “Stampede Bowl” - you pick 2 bases, 1 protein, slaw, pickles, and cornbread. My friend has a gluten allergy and we were surprised at how many items on the menu she could have fyi: not 100% celiac friendly- shared fryers. We shared the garlic shrimp bowl with mashed potatoes and roasted veggies, and we’re pleasantly surprised at the presentation and flavours. Super impressed! Everything on the plate was absolutely delicious. It was light but filling enough, and the perfect way to end our busy stampede day. Only small complaint is that the prices are a tad high, but it was worth it for a fun night out. And we completely understand that during times like this, food supplies are pricey as well. Overall, we loved our dinner at the King Eddy. We’ll definitely return knowing how amazing the food and atmosphere were.
Really recommend this venue for ambience, drink and food. Music acts are very good . The sound system is not over powering, can actually have a conversation.Food and drink menu is very diverse. Was quite busy for a Thursday night Vegetarian options: Can tailor meals to gluten and vegetarian Parking: Lots of paid parking in parkade across the street Dietary restrictions: Can tailor meals to gluten and vegetarian
Have started a journey for 2023 to enjoy live music more! Sure am happy to have been here. Good food, great atmosphere and server was excellent. Looking forward to future times and supporting local.
Great local performance at Happy Hours on a Friday. What a classic gem! The server was friendly. The food was also tasty. *No cover for the band at happy hours but tips for the band was optional as one of the band members came around and collected it. I always like to support LOCAL performers!
This places brunch is 10/10 but only available on weekends!! The chickpea fritter eggs benny was absolutely amazing!! After wandering around downtown to find a breakfast place that had space for 3, we were unable to. We almost gave up till I looked into King eddy’s window and noticed they were serving brunch. The staff was great and welcoming and food was phenomenal! I wish I could have it everyday, can’t wait to stop by again sometime whenever I’m in Calgary
An amazing atmosphere that offers live music with tasty food. The staff is attentive the moment you're seated - bringing you water immediately. Seating was spaced out well.
Great dinner and atmosphere. The server did an awesome job keeping up with the 50 or so wedding guests that just showed up for dinner.Food: 4/5
Cool venue with character. Drinks and food are ok. The biggest failure is charging 30 for entry to a live recording and album launch of Notas de 4 and failing as management by allowing a rowdy group of drunks to shout, talk loudly and scream throughout the entire set, ruining the show for half the bar. What a pathetic lack of enforcement for such an intimate performance SPONSORED BY CBC. What happened to being a "historic music venue"?
King Eddy is one of the premier spots in town for hosting entertainment and viewing a little piece of Calgarys' history! This place is always packed for a reason, they bring in great talent, good brews, and great food! Definitely recommend checking this place out if you are in the Calgary area!
