I don't usually write reviews but i just cannot help this time. I regret so much that i didn't read the reviews before i went to this place. It's absolutely the WORST experience i have ever had in my life. They made everything so hard so that you don't have the choice but donate! The employee who was in charge of buying seems really good at this, she knows exactly what to tell you, like on the script. I am so convinced now based on other reviews and my own experience that this business relies on people's donation, buying is just the bait. They make profit from it and donate certain percentage to charity I hope so. If you want to sell your nice clothes and make some profit, go to other places. If you want to kindly donate clothes to charity, go to other places as well cuz this business will take part of your kindness and exchange for money. Well, the name is "Kind Exchange" after all.
Had a terrible experience here... it's true, you can find some decent clothing here like any other thrift store. But if you're thinking of selling to them you need to be VERY careful. An employee actually recorded my CLEARLY marked authentic brand name leather purse as a significantly lesser brand so that she could value it at a lower price point and offer me less money $7 for an $800 dollar bag to be exact and then when I pointed her error out she was extremely rude and didn't say anything about her falsely labelling the bag essentially theft... needless to say read the details of their offer before you sign it. The other locations around the city are a lot better, it's worth the trip to avoid this location and it's awful staff.
The absolute worst experience I have ever had! I dropped off 3 huge grocery bags full of dresses which ranged from $100-$200/each when I originally bought them. So in total thousands of dollars worth of clothes. I dropped them off Thursday and asked the lady I left it with if it was ok if I picked them up on Monday since I was going to be out of town for the entire weekend. I was told that was completely fine as long as I came Monday and to leave my phone number just in case. When I returned on Monday as promised I was told that my clothes were all "donated" because it was past the 3 day time frame. I explained that I spoke to the lady on Thursday so when they checked their "notes" it said no voicemail. This was clearly a lie as I have a voice mail and my phone is always on and I never had a missed call from them. At this point I was concerned but still patient until CHER was so incredibly rude and could case less. I then started looking through the store where I actually found 4 of my dresses on the rack. I asked where the rest would be and again CHER completely ignored me and just gave me attitude. If it wasn't for a sweet girl Vanessa who worked there and volunteered to help me search through dozens of garbage bags in the back I would have lost my mind. Thanks to Vanessa we were able to recover another 8 dresses but unfortunately in the end I still left there with more then half of my dresses gone. This place is a complete scam and CHER is a so rude with zero customer service skills. Thank god there are good people in the world like Vanessa but I would never recommend anyone to go there. the only reason I gave the one star review is for Vanessa. I have charities where I already donate clothes to but I was looking to make a little extra money off of barely worn beautiful dresses but instead they were basically stolen from me and sold for them to profit from. WHAT A SCAM!
Firstly, I had to wait at the counter for at least 10 minutes while the employees loudly complained about another customer. It was vexing and in bad taste. I had brought in two bags of clothes in great condition - some worn once and others not at all with price tags. One was a beautiful Jeremy Laing silk slip dress bought at a sample sale from the designer himself. It was never worn sadly it did not fit and still had the price tag attached. There were Club Monaco items and a bunch of well curated and still trendy F21 things. They didn't want ANY of it! Looking around at the garbage items stocked in that store, I couldn't believe it. The hassle of going back to that godforsaken place has led me to just donate the items - hopefully they will actually make good on their claim to donate them to the Cancer Society instead of keeping and selling them themselves which I wouldn't put past them. Do not attempt to sell your items here if they are actually in style and of good quality because that apparently isn't what they are looking for.
A small shop with some very nice clothes. We visited from out of town, and were particularly looking at the sale items at the back of the store. They have a lot more women's clothes, than men's clothes. Nonetheless I was able to find a long sleeve shirt that was red, plaid, and in style. Unlike some other stores I've been at, you don't have to check the clothes twice to see if they have any holes or tears or stains. I will go back here again when I'm in town. I fricken hate this place !!! Too bad there's no 0 stars for rating! Every time I've ever gone here with gently used clothing they always don't accept any of it except for maybe 1 or 2 pieces. They gave me $13 for an authentic Juicy Couture bag that was $300 & $3 for denim overalls ! Now tell me that isn't so scammy???? & they don't tell you on the phone how much you're getting you gotta go in person - it's just annoying !! & of course one is too lazy to drag the clothes back home so you leave it with them & they tell you it's being donated but I really believe they sell it.
I have never written a review in my life before this but this place is SO bad I feel like I have to. Overheard the woman at the front desk bragging about how she likes to be "rude and abrupt" to customers because they annoy her and she "hates everyone". Dropped off a bag with a $300 dollar winter coat, $200 Ralph Lauren jacket, $300 leather purse plus 20+ other items and the only thing they took was a shirt i had bought for 4$ at another thrift store an never worn and handed me some change for that. She said the other brands wouldn't sell since when do Free People and Ralph Lauren not sell but said I could leave them there without getting cash back. They obviously just want you to donate everything nice. Complete waste of time. A charity that scams you? People would be more willing to simply donate some of their items if they were more honest about what they can afford to offer you for your items. I'm doing them a favour by giving them 1 star.
This place is the WORST if you want to drop off used clothes, and I gave one star just because giving none is not an option. Completely disregard whatever they claim on their website: they are EXTREMELY picky, and they basically will do anything to get you to donate your stuff even if it's in optimal conditions and it's good stuff, claiming anything in order NOT to give you anything back. I hope that at least it's true that they donate the proceeds go to society they tell you about Cancer research. Also, it is insulting that they do not accept non Canadian IDs, as if people looking not to waste clothes are divided in a first and a second class. They claim it's because of their policy against frauds and thefts, but it's so discriminatory: are non Canadians necessarily thiefs or something?! As an international student, I would find extremely useful to be able to sell clothes at a store like this, but unfortunately they make this impossible. However, it is perfectly fine for them to accept donations even if you are a non Canadian, and no questions asked. How "kind" is that?! If you are looking for a place to just donate your clothes and be sure that they get reused for charity, find another place but this!
I dropped off a few bags full of expensive clothing diesel, g-star, bcbg etc and they told me these are not the brands they are looking for so they didnt pay me a penny even though they are putting these clothes plus shoes to sell and making at least $500 off of each bag.If I knew they are this cheap I would have just donated to the bin. Don't waste your time going there.
Went in there to drop off some clothes that are too small for me now. I had some Burberry jeans, All Saints, French Connection and bunch of Topshop. They said they would review in 15mins and when I came back in 10, I was told there's nothing for value. It was either too worn or not what they're looking for. Asked me if I wanted to donate it. I enquired what happens to the donated items, she said it goes to a textiles company or charity. I bet my right ass cheek they will sell it! What a load of scammers.
