Wow, what a jerk. Not the way I wanted to end my weekend. Came up to Kettlecreek for some fishing and kayaking. One of my friends hurt his shoulder before coming to camp so I thought we'd be able to maybe find a canoe to rent somewhere nearby. We inquired at the park office and they recommended this place. I called on Friday and spoke with the owner. I asked if he was going to be around on Saturday and if we could stop by and rent a canoe. His response was that someone is always around. He asked what time I thought I might be there and I said around 10. Saturday morning came and we found that we were running behind schedule so I called at 10:05 to let them know we were running late. I spoke with the wife who was very pleasant and when I told her that it would be closer to 12 she said that would be fine and let her husband know. Driving on unfamiliar roads and have never been there before, we didn't pull in to his driveway until 12:40. There was a large sign on the main road advertising rental equipment and a sign that said OPEN. When I went to the front door to meet the owner and rent the canoe, he came out to meet me. After refusing to shake my hand he informed me that he wasn't going to rent to us. He said that we were late, first we said 10, then we said 12 and that we were late. I said that it was still close to 12 and before I could say anything else he cut me off saying, "it's quarter to one and don't f****ng argue about it. I had things to do today and you guys are late, learn a f*****ng lesson." I stood there for a second in disbelief about what was happening. He then said, "get off my f****ng property, and learn a f*****ng lesson." Then he went inside. My friends and I left without arguing or pressing the issue. But sitting here typing this still in disbelief, I wonder what would happen if someone pulled up to his place that was OPEN for business and inquired about renting something without setting up a time first?! Maybe he was just having a bad day. Either way, extremely poor choice of words and a lousy way to run a business when you are OPEN on a Saturday! Thanks for ruining my weekend.

What a great place to stay!! This was the second time that I have stayed with Dave and Brenda and just as great of an experience as the first time. Great location, up to date B&B, awesome hospitality. Dave and Brenda have the perfect blend of entertaining, hospitality, & private time. Hiking, fishing, hunting, Cherry Springs, Bush Dam, Biking, Kayaking, Cross Fork, Ole Bull, Renovo, Black Forest, it's all right there. Going to this area for one weekend is not enough!! We will definitely be back to see Dave and Brenda for a third stay :-)

We stayed at KCA in June 2015 - and we haven't been able to stop talking or thinking about it. We already booked another weekend in June 2016 - and are trying to plan an additional weekend for summer 2016. Brenda and Dave are terrific hosts! They made us feel so welcome! The best place north of the Caribbean!!!
