Delicious curry pan. Since it was a hot day, they let me choose whether I would like a chilled one or a hot one. I chose the chilled one. It probably would've tasted even more amazing hot on a cool day. Service was great. Staff were friendly. Seating area had little tables and shelves with various merch. It was really quite quaint. I can't pinpoint whether it was the hot day, or the lighting, or that I went in during a rush and it was crowded, but something about that visit gave me a cramped and damp feeling super vague, and inappropriate adjectives I know, but in my mind, bakeries should feel bright and crisp?. Somehow, even though all the buns were super cute, they didn't quite feel inviting that day.
I got a Melon pan and curry pan. Curry pan was so fresh and crispy. It was expensive tho. I paid almost $10 for two small bread. Melon pan was also delicious. It was similar with the Korean breadaka soboru pan. If the breads were bigger or cheaper, it would have been much satisfying.
Preordered a variety of baked goods from Kanadell for a 10am pick up first option and everything was all packed and ready. The breads were fresh, warm and soft; the fried curry pans were super crunchy. Both tasted delightful! I highly recommend the curry pan and also the melon pan I personally liked the tea flavoured ones as the original was a touch too sweet for me. Definitely will go back to try more of their menu! Free parking along Hastings until 3pm for bus only lane, but parking available on side streets.
So nice to have a little Japanese Café so close to home! I've been there twice now in the past week, and it will definitely become a staple coffee/snack spot. The staff is kind and polite, and the seating area makes this location a great choice to meet friends or study. The matcha lattes are delicious, not too sweet and there are soy/oat options. Must try eats: any of the Melon Pan's and of course the BEEF CURRY PAN! I have been looking for this style of bun for years since my favourite bakey closed, so it was a wonderful surprise to find a new one that makes them in the same style. I can't wait to try one of the sandwiches! 10/10!
Curry was delicious! Bear bread is cute. Also tried the maple cream loaf, it's okay. I like the red bean mochi bite out of all the flavors. Will try the sandwiches next time.
Beef curry Pan and black sesame latte was so good. Some coffee and tea are unique to this restaurant. Friendly staff, clean and nice seating.
This place is famous for its melon pan buns so I had to check it out! It's a cute little Japanese bakery cafe with a beautiful interior. - Melon pans are baked fresh daily, with a variety of different flavours starting at only $3.50. They sell very quick! The melon pan tasted very similar to the ones I had in Japan! They have a crunchy sweet shell, and the inside is soft like mochi! - I ordered the matcha and Earl Grey melon pans and a black sesame latte and Americano. - The black sesame latte is a must try if you're a fan of black sesame! I really liked this place, and I highly recommend it!
This place was crazy good. The melon pan lived up to the hype, made me wish I pre-ordered more of just that! We got a good amount of things, mostly to try everything. The sandwiches/drinks were not able for pre-order and when we got there it was mostly cleaned out. We did end up snagging two sandwiches and a drink and they were good, but I did find it a bit pricey for what it was. I would probably just stick with the bread next time. All the bread I got was great, with the melon pan taking first and the nutella bears following closely behind. I look forward to coming back!
I am absolutely so impressed with the quality of the food. The Japanese curry Bread was the best I’ve ever had and I have lived in Japan. Thank you guys so much for making such great food I wish there were more places like this in Vancouver. You guys rock!
Nice japanese bakery apparently famous for their melon buns. I found the pastries a bit too sweet especially with what appears to be sprinkled sugar on top. The bread is pretty thiccc three c's as well kinda like bagels but it was very soft and warm. There's definitely a market for their type of goods but it's not for me.
