Great gem near campus. Prices may be a little hard to swallow depending on how well you've been keeping to your student budget, but overall lovely staff and a great atmosphere. The latte I had was top quality. If you want a quiet spot away from the Riff Raff of campus, Juniper Cafe is a sold choice. Being right on the water is especially lovely during the summer months.
Finding a new place to always a good feeling. This is situated looking over the water and the patio and chairs on a warm day make it so pleasant to sit and stay. Of course good food and coffee is essential and this cafe has both. Sorry, no pictures of the food - we were too hungry. Just a picture of the setting. Go here.
My recent breakfast escapade at a coffee shop in Kingston, Ontario left me with mixed feelings. While there were certainly highlights, there were also a few disappointments along the way. Let's start with the positives. The veggie sandwich was a delightful surprise. Packed with flavorful vegetables, it was a delicious and satisfying choice. I relished every bite and appreciated the care put into its preparation. The oatmeal kolache was equally enjoyable, with its soft texture and just the right amount of sweetness. It provided a delightful treat to accompany my morning coffee. Unfortunately, my enthusiasm was dampened by a few drawbacks. Firstly, the lack of clear instructions for the entrance was quite frustrating. I found myself confused upon arrival, searching for clear signage or guidance. It would greatly enhance the overall experience if the coffee shop could address this issue and make the entrance more easily identifiable. Additionally, the prices at this establishment left me taken aback. Paying $16+ tax for a sandwich felt steep, even considering the quality of ingredients. It may be worth considering more affordable options to cater to a wider range of customers. Another letdown was the lack of comprehensive explanations for the vegetarian sandwich options and available drinks. It would have been helpful to receive more information to make informed choices. Furthermore, there seemed to be some confusion or disorganization in their system, which impacted the overall satisfaction of the experience. On a positive note, the coffee shop boasts an amazing view that adds a touch of charm to the ambiance. The scenic setting creates a pleasant environment to enjoy breakfast and relax.
A fantastic little cozy coffee shop/restaurant that has a delicious and diverse menu options, highly recommend stopping by for lunch or supper and enjoy the waterfront view of lake Ontario. Highly recommend Parking: Very limited parking if any to be found nearby
Situated on the shoreline of Lake Ontario opposite Wolfe Island, Juniper is a quaint café cum resto with a large number of healthy menu options. It can be a little difficult to find the café, either enter into the Tett Centre there are parking options, head to the bottom floor and walk towards the water it is just before the exit on the left OR walk down the slope between the two buildings Tett Centre will be on the left and the Isabel Bader Centre on the right where the café will be facing the water on your left side. The menu options are typical sandwiches and salads as well as some delicious baked goods. All of their cookies are excellent and worthy of a try. We have been a number of times, but on this occasion we order the Brie-L-T which is really tasty...especially enjoying it outside, sitting in a dock chair facing the water on a beautiful by cool sunny day. Ahh, la dolce vite. Enjoy!
My partner and I had the loveliest impromptu date here We ordered the focaccia with goat cheese, Ontario honey, apricots and carrots. My partner had a macchiatto and I ordered an affogato, both of which were amazing. We sat by the lake and enjoyed the view. We were also lucky to have Colin as our server. He was very friendly, attentive and had a great chat with us. Juniper Cafe is a hidden gem in Kingston and we can't wait to come back.
I've visited the Cafe a couple of times when it was busy and when it was slow. The location is great, one of my complaints is the lack of full glass coverage for the pastries flies were on the baked goods during the summer since there was no back cover on the server's side, which is unhygienic. My other issue is when it is busy, it would be nice to be acknowledged by the servers. A simple "hello, I'll help you shortly" or "I'll get to you as soon as I can" goes a long way, rather than being ignored for 5 minutes.
August 2022 5* Visited Kingston many times but never get the chance to visit Juniper Cafe. It is one of the best cafe in Kingston. Located on the river side, with beautiful view. Here is my food list: - Brie-L-T 5* - Mediterranean Mushroom 5* - Ice tea 5* Bread was so fresh and soft. I really enjoyed the place. You can enter the cafe from two side- Inside the community building especially for people with mobility problem. Other side is trail walk from river side.
Cute little cafe with patio seating by the water. Small menu, but everything was tasty - we ordered the beet salad, brie LT sandwich, and the salami sandwich. Good amount of filling. The salad was fresh and a decent portion size. Prices were a tad pricey $14 for the salad and $19 for a sandwich. You can get a box for $23.
Definitely a cute little Cafe right by the water! There is a small trail that you can enjoy near the cafe too! The cafe has a great atmosphere and friendly service. The outdoor patio looks like a great spot to relax, and the interior is a great spot to converse and have a quick drink or snack! The little reading nook in the window is definitely a nice touch. Overall the cafe should be on your list if you are visiting the area!
