Johnstones Music Land first opened it's doors November 14th 1940. It's still family owned and proud to be one of Canada's oldest music stores. We truly appreciate each and every customer.

"Opened in November 1940 by Ted and Lillian Johnstone. 1964 Guy and Kathy Johnstone purchased the store. 1999 the store until this day is owned and operated by Beth Johnstone and Steve Paskin."

My very favorite music store. I shop there regularly. Steve has always been very professional and helpful. I’ve taken group ukulele lessons with him during Covid on zoom. Great instructor, made the class a lot of fun. I’ve purchased a number ukuleles at the store already. He has also helped me with the repairs to my violin. Heather K.
Great service! Steve is friendly and very helpful and accomodating. I have found on occasion the store has been closed when I went down there. Steve is very community oriented. He is a volunteer firefighter and he teaches ukelele at the Askenonia seniors centre., and I don't know what else. So to avoid frustration, my advice would be to call ahead before going down.
Always treated professionally, Steve always makes time for his customers. You will always find competitive pricing. The most important part of the experience of shopping or even browsing around at Johnstone’s Music Land is SERVICE after the sale, Steve will go out of his way to resolve or improve any of your issues regarding your visit or purchase. Not impressed. Over a month i've been trying to get into my local and only music store. Only to find out that they have either closed earlier than posted online or the employee/owner is at a fire call emergency. I understand that volunteer firefighters are an essiential and needed but you must get another employee so you can stay open past 3pm.
Need musical stuff ? Steve is the best! He is accommodating & knowledgeable whether you wanna rock, roll, play the blues, twang some country, bang a drum, wanna make noise come here to make some!
Went in for an opinion on a bass guitar repair and was given solid advice and education on the situation. Highly recommend this store if you want to deal with someone who knows his instruments.
Great store, lots of variety of musical instruments. Hey what's the deal with the weird dog at the back of the store who kept asking me if I was going to "Use the violin the way it was designed"? 4 stars because even though my artistic method is different I still ended up with a great new set of drumsticks. anyways I'm an adult baby, don't trust your cat!
Wonderful and knowledgeable person to deal with- can provide maintenance for more vintage guitars which is a real plus....will be a loyal customer to this shop.
I was in Midland for a visit, and came across a one-of-a-kind quirky but beautifully made violin at Johnstone's. Steve was friendly, helpful, and patient while I tried it out. I'm so pleased with my new instrument, and I'll definitely make a point to pop in next time I'm in town to see what other hidden treasures Steve has on hand.
Every time we go in we get what we need and always a little good conversation. It's a great place for all your music needs! I am NOT an employee or the owner. We have bought our replacement strings, our tuner, all of our drumming needs and are heading there soon for a ukuele! Thanks.....a hometown music store is always a bonus!
