I can't believe I've lived just down the street from this restaurant for years and have only recently tried it out. I was very impressed with the food and the ample portions leaving me with enough leftovers for my work lunch the next day. The ginger beef had just the right crisp and amount of sauce, sweet and sour pork was great, the fried rice is really good and they give you a lot! The wonton soup is hearty and the wontons are big with lots of meat. The ladies that took my order were always friendly and cheerful. Great customer service! This was my third time ordering from John Wong's in the last few months and it definitely won't be my last!
Had a great supper tonight, each dish was hot and delicious. Have been here several times and never disappointed. Great to eat in or take out.
It’s my birthday & I wanted a treat. Very disappointed with the quality of this Chinese food. The heavy drenched oil in all dishes was hard to digest. I ended up feeding most of my meal to my dog unfortunately. I spent $105+ and all dishes were lacking flavour, like are you tasting the food you are providing? I would describe this restaurant as the “no name” of all Chinese food restaurants e.g- Superstore sells “no name” products for cheaper price. Although, if u like something enough your better off sticking to the “name brand” Very bland flavour, too much oil. Don’t waste your $$$ like I did.
Definitely not dine in. We left. It was 20 minutes until we got a menu. 45 minutes until a nice lady noticed we were leaving before anyone addressed our table, and that's only because we put our coats on to leave. Very impressed watching service to the phone, door dash, skip the dishes, and Uber eats. So busy there. Good ratings. But apparently you have to order from home.
I've come here on and off for a few years. The food is OK if you're in a pinch. It is quite bland. Tonight I learned the character of the people who run this establishment. I ordered for a group of people and when I arrived home with my order I was missing a dish. I called to verify and they said I did not order that. OK there was a miscommunication and they forgot to add it. That's fine. It was new years so it's their busy day of the year. I asked if I can have them make one and I will come pick it up. I didn't ask for it for free, I just simply wanted the dish, the woman sounded shocked that I wanted it. When I arrived two woman appeared to be making whiny voices at me, I figured it probably wasn't because of me. I was then asked a question by a different woman while paying for my order and the other two began mocking my response. So it was clear they had an issue with me wanting to buy another dish. It was shocking to see this is how I was treated when I was wanting to spend more money at their restaurant. I decided to throw the entire dish away as I fully expect them to tamper with my food if they act like that. I'll never be coming back to this restaurant ever again and I encourage others to do the same.
Googled restaurants near me and went with John wongs. Are we ever glad we went to this place. Very polite and attentive people. Food came out piping hot, seasoned well and not greasy. The best s&s chicken we've had in the city to date! Crispy not hard and tender. Good portions, good food and good service.
Besides one confusion that happened with our noodle dishes which was quickly resolved, our experiences at John Wong’s have been positive ones! Every order since has been accurate and delicious! Their food is always well seasoned and cooked to perfection and it is so flavorful!! I was also thrilled to find my favorite beef rice noodle dish on the menu also which was cooked and seasoned perfectly! We will be back! My tummy demands it
My boyfriend and I decided to try out John Wong's after driving past it for years. We are glad we did! It's hard to find a good Chinese restaurant in the city. We ordered shanghai noodles lacked flavor, dry ribs, wonton soup, sweet and sour chicken. Everything was good!
Pretty good Chinese place. We’re from out of town and found this place on google. Came here and had a few dishes all very flavourful and my kids are fussy!! They all emptied their plates and were full and sleepy after for the next leg of our road trip! Beef satay is very tasty.
As soon as we walked in we felt welcome and at home. The wonton soup was the best I think I've ever had, and our server was warm and genuine. The food was delicious, filling and reasonably priced.
