Went there on Monday afternoon. Had the crab claws for an appetizer, there was nothing there the so called melted butter with garlic tasted like pure oil. We had the seafood crab bucket. Corn was way over cooked, crab legs were so tiny there was hardly any meat inside. As far as the service, it was very slow, had people come in after us and they were served and left before we were. The only thing that was good was the bottle beer and the ice tea This place was good when it first opened, not any more.

Talk about a tight wade owner took my wife and grandson there today had the fish and chips supposed to come with coleslaw had fish for 20 minutes still no coleslaw chased down waitress then I finally got it. No wonder it took so long it comes in a cheap little plastic cup the size of a silver dollar 1/2 inch deep. And the dump is over priced. No wonder the place was almost empty during prime time

Maybe it's fond memories, but John Lau has been a safe haven for many years. The prime rib was always a go-to fav of mine....I always enjoyed the atmosphere regardless of the services employed. It's an 'up north ' hang that's brought me back many times over.

Best thing is the place/atmosphere. Otherwise, its overpriced, the food is terrible, and so is the service. We've gone back a few times hoping we were just there on an off day but no. It's just that bad. Unfortunate because it looks great - but appearances can be deceiving.

This place has so much potential. The first thing I noticed right when we walked into the restaurant was that it smelled, old and musty. Not a good first impression. We ate outside it I wouldn't of stayed. The food I would rate a 7/10, but we really enjoyed the waiter "Dakotah".
